Default Can't download Angry Birds for Bold 9790 or Opera Mini.

    Hi All!

Just got my new BB Bold 9790, and I'm already finding that it can't do a lot of the things that I want it to do, like downloading the Opera Mini browser or the Angry Birds game from the BB App World site. The first problem seems to be that my 'device' doesn't accept the Opera Mini browser. The second is that the Angry Birds game isn't compatible with my device. Also, what's with the miniscule App World apps selection? And finally, regarding call quality, I thought that I would get better call quality by switching over to a BB device. So far, that has not been the case! I'm going through Telus Mobility here in Victoria, B.C., and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm outside or inside, I always get the feeling that my phone is about to 'hang up' on me. It hasn't happened yet but always feel like it will. Right now, I have the phone set to bass boost. Anyway, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Angry Birds is only available for the PlayBook.
Seems like you got the wrong device for your needs. I suggest you take it back and exchange.

Thanks again Phill! I do like my BB 9790, and don't really want to part with it. I don't do a lot of 'surfing' on the internet, and the only reason I wanted the Opera Mini browser, is that someone else on another site said that I would have to get that browser in order to get the Angry Birds game. Now that I know that I know that I can't get either the browser or the game on the 9790, it doesn't matter. I still like the smallness of the 9790. You also didn't say anything about the 'call quality', so I'm guessing that I need to get another phone for all the reasons I mentioned. Seeing as I want to keep the 9790, do you have any suggestions on how to improve the call quality? Before I got the 9790, I kept reading that the call quality was supposed to be really good. I know that call quality is also carrier-dependent as well, but as far as I know, I'm with a good cell phone carrier. Any help would be appreciated!

I have a 9790 and the call quality seems to be fair enough, can you confirm on what OS version are you on ? It will be found in options>device>about device versions.

Are you going directly to m.opera.com to get the browser?

The OS version is 7.1.0.523. I think that this is the latest version, although someone else said that a newer OS version still is out there. I already tried to 'update' the latest version, but it says that I already have the latest version! By the way, I tried setting my phone on 'boost bass' but that didn't help. Now I have it on 'boost treble' to see if that helps. I haven't used the phone yet, so don't know if that will make a difference. The other two are 'previous' (I have NO idea what that one does) and 'normal'. Any help would be appreciated!

There are 2 more versions after the one you have (.569 official & .649 leaked OS).
You can update if you wish.
Boost Bass is for the media player.
Normal is the normal volume and previous is the volume that was there in the previous call but that is for hearing. You can increase volume of the call (while on call) press the side keys for up or down as per your choice.
I feel you should try the above !

Boost Bass and Boost Treble are both in-call audio enhancement setting options...

    Hi!

How did you manage to download Opera Mini when even on the Opera Mini site, the closest versions of the Bold that it supports is the 9700 and the 9900? Did you download the 9900 version for the 9790? Thanks!

I noticed on my 9790, even if the volume is set to max before a call, during the call, the volume is around 80% only and increasing the volume does improve the call quality.

I've got Opera mini installed (I was on a 9300 and just upgraded today). I transferred everything over and voila it is there and the 9790 has just allowed me to upgrade. Sounds odd that you aren't allowed to!

see if you can get Angry Farm. I have it on my 9900. There is even a free version you can try first. My Nephew plays Angry Birds all versions on the playbook and always wants to play Angry Farm on my 9900 when he is around. Angry Farm plays the same way.
