Unless you really need the more compact form factor and an autofocus camera I would say the 9900 is better.

I haven't any issues with my 9900. I had a you tube bug with one OS but that's it.
I haven't tried the 9790 so couldn't say. Many still say the 9900 Is the best keyboard so.... - 07-05-2012, 04:20 AM

hello ben,
How long have yu been using 9900????? still u have d bug???? - 07-05-2012, 04:42 AM #8
Hey,
I had my first 9900 since launch week. That had a small problem with jvm error, I reloaded the OS and it was back to normal....then got liquid damaged.
Now on my second and only had the you tube bug which was a few OS's ago. It wasn't bad, just it was reluctant to 'go back' page sometimes.
Now I haven't any problems with this Bold & .523 OS. Its the best yet.
I don't know much about the 9790 other than its newer, has an auto focus camera (I'm not fussed about) and its smaller. From what I know now, if I couldn't have a 9900 I'd go for the 9790.

But 9900 if you want bigger form factor. Or else but 9790. That's the one major difference. Apart from auto-focus and a bit clock speed.

Its pretty well just preference besides the autofocus camera on the 9790and a bit more processing speed on the 9900 I would suggest going into a store and trying both see wich you like more in the hand.
Lets go BB10 It's time to nut up or shut up!
BB10 is going to be legend...wait for itThanked by:gokulraj2471 (07-06-2012)

To the best of my knowledge the only benefits the 9790 has over the 9900 are a smaller form factor (possibly more pocket/purse friendly for some) and a slightly improved battery life due to the more power-efficient processor in there. The 9900 on the other hand has a more powerful processor (less hanging when performing tasks, faster loading of web pages once they download to the device), faster performance over the mobile network (14Mbps vs. 7.2 Mbps), a more spacious and comfortable keyboard, larger screen, and more metal components on the exterior to translate into a stronger finish on the exterior of the device. On paper, the 9900 is the better phone. In reality, it's all personal preference.
This coming from the user of a 9810. - 07-06-2012, 06:38 PM #15Thanked by:

its funny i was just speaking with s techician from rim about my 9810 and blackberry news app problems. he was telling me how much he liked the 9790 and he got it when it came out in preference to 9900. he liked its size better and the feel better besides other reasons.
i have 9810 and didnt get 9900 because i wanted auto focus.

I have both - can genuinely say the 9790 is much better. The 9900 only has a better keyboard but the 9790's is not bad either, very similar to my old 9780.
it has a smaller screen but that's not an issue for me, plus it has auto focus which is really handy. And the battery life lasts slightly more longer than the 9900.Thanked by:gokulraj2471 (07-11-2012)

My only problem was the battery life, extremely poor battery life. I would say I got like %40 the juice I got from my 9700 maybe because the screen and the OS, not to mention the smaller battery the 9900 carries. 1500mah on the 9700 vs the 1150mah on the 9900
I just found out that the Seidio 3000mah extended battery is out for the 9900 and I couldn't be more exited to get it. NOW it will be the best blackberry on the market

I've owned both... I started with the 9790 and I can tell you it is a great phone, reliable, good battery life, slower processor is barely noticeable and a smaller form factor (if that is what you prefer)... I now own the 9900, since the up-grade to OS 523, it has been a monster, great battery life, fast processing and decent pictures (not as good as the 9790)... What really got me though was the keyboard, size and weight... As far as the keyboard is concerned, it is most probably the best on the planet and that was my #1 consideration... Either phone you pick, you will not be disappointed... Really it comes down to form factor... Good luck...

After using 9900 for almost a year, I would say that it is the best Blackberry available, especially now that the Seidio 3000mah battery is out.
The Autofocus cam and the small form factor of the 9790 is all what it takes for somebody to look away from the 9900.
But, I shudder to think.. What if the Seidio 3000mah battery can fit into a 9790!!! - 07-24-2012, 08:25 PM #24
I came from the 9900, which I really loved!
The speed, the screen and the keyboard ware awesome!
But I also had some problems with it:
Batterylife was poor - less than half I had with my old Curve 8900.
Not having a AF-camera wasn't nice, too (after beeing used to have one).
But the worst things were the VERY poor Wifi-reception and that it didn't run very stabil.
Had to batterypull often a day - didn't matter with which OS it was running.
So I swiched to the 9790.
I'm really happy that I did that move!
Nice to have back a AF-cam, great WiFi-reception and a bit more stabil device - I only have to batterypull every 2 days or so on normal use.
Batterylife is also better, I'd say around 20%.
Had to get used to the smaller screen and keyboard again, but I found peace of mind!Thanked by:gokulraj2471 (07-25-2012)

Most problems come from ppl not knowing how to use the phone properly...
