9790 Battery Life Compared to 9900?
Both uses the same battery but I assume the 9790 battery life would be longer than 9900 but by how much... Anyone have any insight to share?

Battery is horrible, almost the same with 9900 in early day. After initial charge it depleted within 3 hours, then I recharged again to full and within 3 hours it dropped to 25%, just for a very minimal use, Still looking for tweak that may save the batt

Comparing the battery life with the 9900 should be done on the same settings. Such as the backlight brightness level. As this is one of the main factor that drain the battery pretty fast apart from the apps running in the background. If can, both of the devices that are being tested on, use the same provider and same network settings.
Based on the technical specifications, 9790 should use less power than 9900 as it has smaller screen and slower processor.Last edited by wilsey; 11-28-2011 at 01:41 AM. Reason: add info

Its been confirmed from indonesian blackberry forum, the battery is same as 9900,we are not happy with the battery of 9790
1. battery same as 9900,not good at all
2. 90% product of blackberry 9790 have problem with their trackpad, they returned it on their first day to get replacement.Last edited by joeiza1; 11-28-2011 at 02:07 AM.

the "trackpad problem" being discussed is actually only a bit slightly going down to the left, perhaps only about 0.5-1mm, but the function itself reportedly normal
i think the users in indonesia a bit overreacted when they know even only a slightly imperfect build quality, my 9790 trackpad do just fine and perfect, no other issue whatsoever
battery life do just fine, i got about 10% better in battery life compared to 9900, most users which claim below 6 hours usually doesn't set the proper power management like brightness level at 50-75% (i set mine to 0 and still wonder why there are people needs >25%), some other carless like turning on bluetooth & wifi, set the social apps to keep running/updating in the background, etc, etc, etc...Last edited by nike.stars; 11-28-2011 at 06:58 AM.

My trackpad if flush, and battery life is definitely better than my 9900.
Where are the Indonesian 9790's made? - 11-28-2011, 11:22 PM #17

RIM most probably outsource its factory just like Apple did outsource to China.

The Indonesia government also telling RIM to setup their datacenters in Indonesia. They did that with Google also when Google wanted to setup an office in Indonesia. I think Google ended up doing in Singapore or Hong Kong. No suprise since I think employees there are somewhat better there...

Although a bit off topic, I found more information regarding Blackberry factory. Apparently, Playbook are also oursouced to a manufacturer in Taiwan called Quanta Computer (Taiwanese factory linked to RIM PlayBook shuts down)
The address of the manufacturer can be found at Quanta ComputerFollow me on Twitter www.twitter.com/cthaddeus

Just read phill_uk post, that you have test blackberry 9790 product right? not the retail product..no wonder you have last longer battery from japan??
Any shop that sell your battery that made in japan?? I would like to buy it, cause you said your battery is more then 2 days.
