    Default White Screen?

    hey guys,
my friend gave me a Bold 9780 that has a white screen cause he upgraded to a 9900. to fix it, is it just a matter of replacing the LCD?

I dont want to replace the LCD and the cause could be something else.

    many thanks

The white screen usually indicates no video data being received by the LCD. The cause is more likely the video ribbon cable. I'm not sure about the 9780 but I do know about the 9700 having this problem. The 9700 white screen problem is easily fixed by repairing the video cable with electrical tape. The ribbon cable is routed very close to the metal frame in the area of the end call button. Remove the cable at the circuit board and wrap it with a small piece of electrical tape in that area and it will eliminate the problem. Look on YouTube for instructions on how to take it apart.

I checked the Ribbons and everything seemed to be good.

Find out if the LCD had been changed sometimes the wrong LCD id number may have been used and that also causes the white screen.
some repair guys do this on purpose to hopes to get you to sell your device cheap then they fix it right and sell it.
