Default Trackpad has stopped working twice this week

Hey so on monday when blackberry went down my trackpad just stopped working. So i just left the phone over night and the next day when i was about to order a new trackpad i turned it on and it worked again. But again today it just stopped working. Both times the phone has been in my jacket pocket with my hand round it. Not sure if this could cause moisture in the handset ? Tried a million battery pulls. Cant think what else it could be unless its just broke ? Haven't dropped it and its not been near water either.

    Help please ?

If it's still under warranty, take it to the carrier and request that they do a repair on it, to replace the trackpad. Also, if you haven't updated the OS, that might be a good idea, if you haven't done so already.

GNU/Linux distros of choice: Ubuntu, Mint (or anything based on debian that's still geared towards beginners and isn't too bloated).

Thanks for your reply. Sadly i don't have a warranty for it. Not sure how to go about updating the OS ? Would this wipe my phone ? As in all my apps and bbm contacts ? Thanks again.

Use this thread's tips, on the first page. Use your carrier's OS to do so, remember to download and install it beforehand. You won't need to delete the vendor.xml file.

my 9700's trackpad went awhile ago. it would start either scrolling out of control or just not work at all. it is an optical sensor, so it may just screw up at some point. $10 and 15 minutes of your time and you can fix the problem yourself.

OS updates most likely will never fix trackpad issues because its a hardware issue. the new trackpad should do the trick.

It's actually pretty amazing how a lot of issues on BlackBerry's that relate to the hardware (like the multiple keyboard input one) can actually get fixed with OS upgrades.

its also amazing how chances are its actually not getting fixed and is most likely a placebo effect.
