Screen replacement?
I'd like to know how many different screen types does the blackberry 9780 have, I have a friend selling one, so I was wondering if it had only one type so safe me the hassle of having to open it and potentially damaging foreign property.
thanks - 06-21-2011, 07:57 PM #2
Yes, it only has one type, if you need to see a picture/description of an official one to make sure its not fake click here:

Thanks, so the only screen the 9780 is the 004/111 version.
so I really don't need to open it and check the model and safe to buy it right away? - 06-21-2011, 09:49 PM #4
Only one type? The 9700 has three different ones...
LCD Display Screen For BlackBerry Bold 9700 - 001/111 (Black) -*US $84.38*:*sw-box.com
LCD Display Screen For BlackBerry Bold 9700 - 002/111 (Black) -*US $102.50*:*sw-box.com
LCD Display Screen For BlackBerry Bold 9700 - 004/111 (Black) -*US $84.38*:*sw-box.com
If they did this for the 9700, I bet the same happened to the 9780. I've seen more than one thread about how somebody bought the wrong screen and messed things up.
OP, do you NEED a spare screen? Why not invest that money into some protection for your phone. Better keeping it new than replacing parts is it not? Cheaper too...

^ Yes that's the 9700, however all the research I did it shows only the 004/111, so if I'm wrong someone prove me wrong.

Agree My 9700 stills on deep coma from an "espresso"
it has the 111/04 and I bet the 9780 has different types screens.I replaced the screen its not difficult at all..many videos are shown on you tube as well.
But the seller where I bouth them for two times sent me faulty ones!! I got refounded but I still have paid for the courier twice. So until am not going to find and old one ,where, I can ceck the screen am not gona buy it again!
I miss my 9700... is lying into my desk's cupbord asking for help... I hope is not suffering to much.

There you go. You've been proven wrong. Happy now?
I bought a 8310 screen from SW-Box and (althou it too a month from it to move from China to Brasil) it was a smooth process. I tell ya, it's brighter than my 9780's!
OP, you're gonna have to open it to install the screen isn't that so? So open the device with that friend of yours around and IF the screen matches, buy it.Last edited by diegonei; 06-22-2011 at 10:02 AM.

In searching out a vendor for the screen for my Bold, I have found that at least one of the vendors says that the 002/111 screen they have will not work in an OS 6 environment. Seems screwy to me, but does any one have any answers for that?
