A solid device is the 9900 Bold, but it is also a touch screen and has a physical keyboard. It's up to you to see what suits you.

There is no non-touchscreen upgrade besides the 9780.
Compared to the 9700, the 9780 has twice as much RAM, a better camera, and runs OS6 natively. - 08-08-2012, 10:56 PM

thanks, pls what does the double RAM translates to? Does it mean larger internet pages? My 9700 usually do not open many internet pages, it gives the notice: 'this page is too large'
pls am expecting kind replies

Double RAM means more available memory to run processes. It will most likely solve your browser issue, and maybe other slowness/lag issues you may be experiencing as well.

Post an example webpage that is "too large" for you and I'll check it on my 9780.
The main point of more RAM is so app not only can make use of that extra, but it also allows more apps to run at the same time as they are all sharing that space. Too little RAM makes the phone work too hard in trying to keep everything available to you.
So more RAM is good.
I think if you scroll back 18 months or so to when this phone came out then you will see a lot of people who were very happy with a 9700 to 9780 upgrade. (Just make sure you upgrade your OS to a .650 or above version. I like my .666, others like some of the .7xx releases) - 08-10-2012, 06:21 PM #9
Im very satisfied with my 9780. Before i had a 9700 and than a 9900. Yes, i had a 9900, for about 4 months and i got very disappointed. Very short battery life, worse signal strenght, bad call quality and bluetooth use (compared to 9700). The os 6 on 9780 seems to run smooth and fast compared to os7 on 9900. The 9780 have some great improvements compared to 9700, the keyboard (better than 9700, it is rubberized, better touch), the camera, the memory. I think OS5 is very light and fast, maybe a little more fast than os6, but the improvements on os6 turn it a better option. In my opinion, the best BB nowadays are 9780, 9630, 9790, 9700. i would put the 9780 on the first place for a real business comunicator smartphone. because of the battery, the keyboard and the os6 . For me , the 9900 is fourth place because of the short battery, the weird signal behavior (many are complaining of it on the forums and are trying to change the os to get a better signal, but it is probably due to the steel edge) and the instability of the os7, wich is the better OS, but have some bugs (freezes, lags, etc..).

Sometimes you have to change your phone just because you are tired to look at the same phone everyday. You need to change. And you keep looking at other phones to see wich one could be better for you. Actually, your phone could be the best for you, and if you upgrade you could be very frustrated. In my case, my upgrade from 9700 (wich i loved) to a 9900 was a big disapointment , i was almost returning to a 9700 when i gave a chance to a new 9780. I became very satisfied , it is very similar to my old 9700 but have improvements, and , its a new phone !
