1) Not sure about the ROM, but 512 mb for internal memory.
2) 512 MB RAM
3) It's clocked up to 624 Mhz.
I have a Bold 9780. Coming from an Android device it's a whole new experience. I was in the same doubt as you. My advice?
If you are into Blackberries and everything they concern, great then, this device is awesome. It has an excellent battery life. I give it a hard use and the battery lasts me 1-day and a half. Push notifications are one of the best. It's very fluid, and until now, i haven't done a battery pull, never. Headphones are utterly bad, terrible! Loudspeaker it's quite good if you don''t get it to the last volume. Camera and flash are both great, better than my Defy.
It's a really good phone IF you are into bbs. OS6 works wonderfully - 06-11-2012, 10:43 PM #27
My bad, earlier I had thought you meant RAM!!
to answer your questions, since I trust gsmarena, I'm answering right off that,
1. ROM - 256
2. RAM - 512
3. Proc. Speed - 624MHz..
For the confusion I caused earlier, sorry!
didn't realise my mistake till just now when I read the other replies to my post!! :P

since using bold for over 9 months, I can say that it awesome phone for communication purpose. For RAM, it has 512 MB, internal storage 512 MB, prohcessor speed 624 mhz.
To check free RAM, go to OPTION > DEVICE > DEVICE AND STATUS INFORMATION > FREE MEMORY (mine is 322 MB free).
To check free internal storage; go to OPTION > DEVICE > STORAGE > APPLICATION STORAGE > FREE SPACE (mine 307 MB free).
Another way to check both things, go to OPTION > DEVICE > APPLICATION MANAGEMENT.
Good luck to all bb users.

Yes u are right but many such sites don't display all the specs correctly. Normally u'd find info written as "Memory 512 mb". But nowhere it is specified whether its ROM (internal memory) or RAM.
If you read the comments made above yours u'd find people (who own the piece) saying that 9780 has a 512 mb internal memory and RAM, both. Also, i have read the same in many forums and reviews.
But still not sure as some sites have specified a 256 mb ROM . Very misleading! - 06-12-2012, 01:38 AM

Mr. redriot, Nope.. both give the same result on my handset.. one gives in bytes, the other one gives in MBs... So this way is useless... Sorry to disappoint you too bbhitam...To check free RAM, go to OPTION > DEVICE > DEVICE AND STATUS INFORMATION > FREE MEMORY (mine is 322 MB free).
To check free internal storage; go to OPTION > DEVICE > STORAGE > APPLICATION STORAGE > FREE SPACE (mine 307 MB free).

There is a clever thing they have invented for websites like this. When you are in a quest for knowledge there is a clever tool to be aware of. It is called "search".

Using the "search" box at the corner of this page you can search both the News side of this website and the Forums.
Here are news articles about the 9780 Bold:

Here is the specific post which answers your spec questions:

And here is a quicker to read summary at the top of a Forum post detailing the phone's specs:

I have changed my headphones the same week i bought bb bold as they were messed-out. What I have realised is that when upgrading to .524 (which is the only my carrier provides) volume may be lower but cuality is a little better

I have a 9780, but when I had a curve, I found the "island" keys better than how the 9780 keys are adjacent. If I had to get a phone today, I'd get that ATT version. 9790 I think. The phone is a bit fatter, so the keys are bigger. Then again, I'm on T-mobile, so I can't use that particular phone.
At this point in time, with BB 10 due at the end of the year, I would just wait. In fact, T-mobile keeps sending me email that I qualify for an upgrade, but I want BB 10. I got a playbook and QNX really works well. - 06-20-2012, 10:09 AM #41
considering you can easily score a 9780 for $175 or less, I would say don't think twice. It's a top notch, very reliable, long lasting phone. I have 2 of them, one running .650 and one running .666 . With a few simple accessories it will be a loyal companion. Had I not been so determined to get my 9900 working at what I feel is 90% of the 9780s level, I'd have continued to use it every day.

I'm in the same boat with regards to my TMO contract (up in Aug.) and I'm waiting for BB10.
I considered the Lumia 900 seriously for a couple weeks but the more I read about it the more doubts I had plus it just didn't feel right in my hand
Conversely, the more I read and see of BB10 the more I want it. OS looks for superior IMO to anything else I'm aware of. Was initially worried about the lack of a physical keyboard though but the video leaks I've seen demonstrating BB10's touch screen keyboard won me over. - 06-20-2012, 02:58 PM #43
That is interesting. I run .666 on my 9780. I think the quality must be pretty good in this version as I have heard details in some of my FLACs that I have NEVER heard from the CDs on my expensive HiFi.
I was so surprised at what I was hearing, I had to rewind the track to check.
The other handy feature of .666 is when I turn up the volume, it gets to a point that says something along the lines of "You have now reached max volume. if you want to keep turning it up any more, then click agree on this warning". That then allowed me to go even higher on the volume.
This ability to "turn it up to 11" impressed me as many MP3 players I have had in the past would be drown out by external noise on the bus, etc.
Ah... volume... just double checked the phone. Doesn't seem to do that message now, but it is certainly loud. I can't tell if that message was a "once only" permission which is still in force, or if that message only appeared on an earlier OS. (And no - I am not wiping my phone just to test for that) - 06-20-2012, 04:44 PM #44
