    Default OS 6.0.0.749 + Aikido

I just installed yesterday this OS 6.0.0.749 on my BB 9780 + latest Aikido hybrid and it's working smoothhhhh. No problem after one day of testing. Anyone try other hybrids? wich you consider best?

I installed this yesterday, and it seems the same as .723. Haven't noticed much difference, but I also didn't have time to do a full wipe, and clean install. Will do so later though.

I just realised that installing this latest OS + that hybrid make my battery draw in 1 day without no use if the phone. Reinstalling the OS only.

Is it just me or is the radio not as good in this release? Like I've been noticing my phone is not as good in retaining signal in weak coverage areas.

I had the Tmob "roaming" issue on 723. When dealing with Tmob for some other issue, I put some effort into the roaming issue. Note that I never got a roaming charge. Rather it was just annoying that Tmob thought I was roaming. It turned out that if you are under contract, they need to have your IMEI. That is, if they don't see the phone they sold you, they think you are roaming. It sounded like semi-bull do me (I mean I could believe it, but the simcard should be all they need.) However when I gave them my new IMEI, the problem went away.

That said, I will do the upgrade and see what happens.

My battery seems to be draining faster too, even without much use.

The BBM Voice seems to stop working after the update. Am I the only one with this issue?

My bbm voice is fine on my side. Has anyone else been getting connection errors in their browser? Even with WiFi on, it keeps giving me errors. After a few tries, the website will eventually load.

Is it just me...or is the radio signal a bit weaker in this version? Or maybe it's just on My network (VodaComSA). But have tested it against .723 & that signal seems much better.

I haven't used my Vodacom sim in my bb, but my MTN signal seems the same as before. It isn't great, but it's okayish.

Yeah it seems pretty much the same after a week of testing. Or perhaps .749's radio gives more accurate readings than .723 :]Y Anyway, thanx 4 ur input

    Thumbs up

Typed a huge review that I lost when navigating away from the page by mistake. How does the auto save work here?!

Here's a much shorter review. This is based on upgrading to .749 from .723 :

    1. Better battery efficiency. Battery drain is 25% slower, so I'm getting about 16 hours of battery, vs 12 hours FLAT with .723. Big win for me

    2. Wifi stability improved. This build keeps the phone stuck to the Wifi signal. Earlier with .723 the phone would use either wifi or mobile data, based on its mood. Now when connected to wifi, it only uses wifi. Another win.

    3. Email Setup App crashing. When I tried to run the email setup app a few times, it always crashed and I had to update my email settings via the BIS website. I installed a new version of the App quite easily, by visiting my providers Email Setup App Update Page - http://etisalat.blackberry.com/rest/EmailClient - And it's fine now. Would have been a negative if it didnt install, because I have OCD and get annoyed if EVERYTHING does'nt work.

    4. Faster performance or not? After installing the OS I noted faster performance for all OS related actions (Opening apps, browsing, keyboard lag etc). I guess as with any OS, a fresh install always makes the speed faster, but whether it stays or not, remains to be seen. As of now, it feels super smooth / fast.

Net net, a huge improvement in terms of battery performance and wifi stability for me. Speed is also faster and I recommend this strongly over .723 - that killed my BlackBerry experience and wanted to make me switch to an iPhone. Glad to see that RIM actually still give a damn.

    Cheers from Dubai!

Just installed last night .749 over .733.
Will test it more during the coming days. I was happy with .733 but if the battery life is better, if the OS is a bit snappier, then why not?
