Could have posted something more constructive. BTW, the Asian version was released on the weekends and I took the plunge and perform the updates.

Now running on .723. I noticed interface much faster but also encounter hourglass icon when running BBM.

Battery life after 2 days, are in par with the .668 version. Will give it a week to settle down then come back to comment further.

OK. Since my BB is for business so I must carefully backup before doing the update and that's why I usually not the first lots of user to try any new update.

I just update last night and first impression is not much changes from .706. I don't see any hourglass icon so far. But the "Compose PIN" option still disappear as in .706. Battery life still too early to conclude. I think .706 has better signal strength than .723.

Henghs and samc3838, well, thank you for both of your inputs, I've managed to download it today! Yay! Will test it out tmr or sometime in the weekend, since I am still on .666 (it takes time to update the os as sometimes the update process acts weird)

Thumbs up

Just upgraded from stock 506 to 723. Vast improvement. Signal and battery life is solid so far. Fluid and better in every aspect. My wife use 668 and 723's signal is always stronger.

Battery life? Drop to 80% after 8 hours of light moderate usage. Whatsapp and YM work in the background. Good enough battery life?

Friends,

Read entire forum regarding 723 update. Everyone is telling good update and better battery backup.
I had a different experience. My previous version is 480 and I upgraded to 723.
I dint feel any visual change except top slider tray(Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Signal).
Also didn't feel any changes in signal. I am using 2G only.
Main different I noticed is 723 Battery life is less comparing to 480.
I downgraded to 480 and confirm again.
it having good backup.
I'm still using 480.

Regards.
Dilip.

I'm really tempted to downgrade to .480. All these claims that .480 are better especially on battery life. I haven't have a problem though on battery died out the day as I am constantly near a charging outlet. However, I am experiencing low memory problem on browser and messenger occasionally.

Anyone having same problem?

I went back to the .480 posts given by audio_engr below and couldn't find anything mentioned on the signal strength:

Latest Official OS: 9780 6.0.0.480 from PCCW Mobile

Do agree with you that signal strength is excellent on .723

I am running .666 so can't fully comment here - but there is some common sense to .723 eating up more battery if it is supplying a better signal. It sounds like that section has been re-written to improve the signal which seems fairly logical that a better signal is then going to eat up more battery. If the phone is working harder to get a better signal, then that is going to have a trade off in battery life.

I guess those of you talking about going back to .480 are not heavy UMA users like me. And surely you are going to be walking back into the old double-letters bug in text messages again?

Funny Story :

723 Isn't out yet for T-Mobile in my country, 668 is the latest one. However I'm running 723 since release.

I sended back my Phone for Warranty, they repaired the problem for free and sended it back, it arrived yesterday and there was a letter with it stating :

''Your device has been repaired, and we even updated your OS to the latest version!''

When in fact.. they DOWNGRADED it!
lmao

I have the same problem. I am on T-mobile and the phone thinks I am roaming. If I do the three finger restart or a battery pull, it starts out fine, but then eventually it starts to claim I am roaming.

Otherwise, I think the rev is much improved over 666.

Now that someone else has the same problem, I will call T-Mob. They generally hand me right over to RIM. I really don't want to change back since the phone is significantly better with the new OS in all respects except for the roaming issue.

I haven't tried to tether the phone yet. T-Mob used to allow tethering while roaming, but sometime in the last year or so they now flag roamed tethering. If the new OS really thinks I am roaming, it won't tether. If it does tether, then I'm not sure I really care if it says I am roaming or not since T-mob doesn't have roaming charges.

Rev 723 worked on UMA right out of the box. However, since the phone thinks I am roaming, I decided to go through the ES (Engineering screen) and load the T-mob provisioning. Basically make my phone look more T-mob. Again, thinking started out well, but eventually the phone decided I was roaming again. I did set some T-mob stuff sent to my phone as soon as I set up T-Mob UMA, so having the official T-Mob certificates does do something.

Note the "enter" button seems a bit hotter on the new rev. Hard to believe since it is just a physical button, but sometimes it acts like I hit it twice.

723 might also tweak the browser. I have another thread on the forum regarding RSS rev 2 not working for podcasts. Since I went to 723, that problem went away.
