Now that someone else has the same problem, I will call T-Mob. They generally hand me right over to RIM. I really don't want to change back since the phone is significantly better with the new OS in all respects except for the roaming issue.
I haven't tried to tether the phone yet. T-Mob used to allow tethering while roaming, but sometime in the last year or so they now flag roamed tethering. If the new OS really thinks I am roaming, it won't tether. If it does tether, then I'm not sure I really care if it says I am roaming or not since T-mob doesn't have roaming charges.
