Default How's the 9780 on Tmobile nowadays?

    Hello,

I'm thinking of picking up a 9780 to curb my BB cravings until the Classic comes out.

Does T-Mobile still support the UMA wifi calling?

It should work. It worked for me when I had my 9780. I think as long as the software supports it you are good.

They still support WiFi calling on OS7 devices, I don't see why UMA would stop working.

Wait! Don't do that man, the 9780 is overpriced in comparison with its better OS 7 siblings.
The materials used and feel of device is fantastic, but I found something terrible that made it unusable for me..
It can't load most webpages as it has too little RAM. I know you want it for that sweet keyboard and faux leather feel, but think about this.
My hindsight just whispered the flaws of my past decisions. No...

Thanks for the reminder. I've had both 9780s and 9900s in the day, and I had a stronger attachment to the 9780 because of size, WiFi calling in hardware, and the battery life.

    HOWEVER.

Twitter is one of my main sources for news, and I remember now on the 9780 I could almost never open a link on there successfully to view a news clip or story.

That puts a notch back in the 9900 column.

So I'm torn between the beauty, class, UMA, and battery life of the 9780, and the better browser in the 9900. WiFi calling on the 9900 with tmobile was spotty for me too, and the 9780 *just worked*

DAMNIT. Decisions. I found an old 9900 charging cradle in a drawer on the weekend, so that my affect my decision, too

Why don't you use the RSS app for news? I find that a more efficient way to get all of my updates from my favorite sources.

    Just a quick update--

Got a clean, black 9780 on eBay for around fifty bucks. I've had it as my daily driver for about a week, and love it. I had one before, so it only took my a day or so to "become one" with it (you know, where the blackberry is just an extension of your arm).

    Quick comments:

UMA wifi calling on T-mobile still works great, so at my office which has horrible signal, I can wander around and talk anywhere. Love it.

Spotify works great. It's not the slickest app in the world on OS6, but the damned thing works and I can search for any music, add to a playlist, and it syncs across my devices.

My goal is to make it two months, then either go to a 9900 or Q10 (if cheap) for the remainder of the time while waiting for the Classic :-)

P.S. The form factor and physical buttons are just tremendous on the 9780. Oh yeah, charging contacts and cradle, plus the two day battery life. So many good things.

I've been using a Q10 for a year and a half but am about to lose my mind over the constant rebooting when putting the phone down on a table. My last phone, and my favorite, was the 9780 on TMobile. I just bought a 9780 off ebay (sadly, my old one was traded in for a credit with TMobile, which is too bad as it was dead reliable and in mint condition!) to use for a while. I considered just buying a Classic but they look SO big and I prefer something smaller. Pretty psyched about the 9780, hope the one I bought turns out to be a good one!

As I read this thread from my z30 I still miss my 9700. Contemplating the 9780 as well as I'm about to pull the trigger on one off of ebay. I love my z30, it works flawlessly and the battery life is insanely durable. I've been using it on tmo and I pick up 4glte all this aside I still enjoy a smaller device for text, email and the ability to get it all done with one hand. I'm addicted to the track pad with physical keyboard!

I got my new 9780 and it is just how I remember it. I realized how much I prefer trackpad navigation on a device with a smaller screen (difficult to read the screen while your finger is sliding across to scroll!) and the phone feels so perfect in the hand. Sadly my old sim card could not be activated so I am waiting on a new one in the mail to get this puppy fired up with service. TMobile customer service was very helpful and courteous, as usual.

My Q10 has actually been behaving very well the past few days. I've not had a reboot in a while. I reinstalled the facebook app and notice that the phone seems to drain its battery much more quickly. I really like the Q10 but the 9780 feels like home.

I just ordered another Bold 9780, found a great used one from ebay for 30 shipped. It's funny because. I got my first BlackBerry in 2012, it was a curve 9360, lost that then went to the 9780 and loved it!! Someone busted the screen at my work while it was charging and never fessed up about it. After that bought a Bold 9900 it was ok but was never crazy about it. I then traded in my broken 9780 to get my Q10 and they gave a me a $200 credit.

Well I have had the Q10 for over a year now and miss the way the 9780 worked with my PlayBook, so I'm going back in time and going to be using the 9780 as my daily. I own my own business so always having a phone that's charged is a huge deal to me, I have to charge my Q10 halfway through the work day.

Can't wait till my 9780 gets here!
    -I missed the docking/cradle charger
-Being able to back it up to my computer, I have an older Mac that doesn't recognize my Q10
    -the long battery life
    -the simple call/text/email features

There is a ton of benefit with the Q10 but for me I think the 9780 is a better choice for now.
