Doing a downgrade.
Hi everyone. I want to downgrade from .723 to .668 or to .524 which is the original OS provided by my carrier. My question is if, when a I proceed with this method of wiping and so on, will all my bbm contacts disappear? I mean, will i recover them via BDM?
Thanks.

Have you ever done an upgrade before? It's the same procedure, so back up accordingly.

Going to .524 will bring back too many bugs IMHO.

Yes, i have. I thought about it better and I realised that it's the same. Lol. Thanks for the mind-refresh
Well, it went good on my Bold. The only bug was the LED notifications. Sometimes it got stuck. On .723, i don't have consistant bugs, but once a while I do. The things is that i might sell it, so i need to install the OS provided by my carrier in order to have warranty. Meanwhile, i was thinking about installing .666 or .668. What do you say? - 07-12-2012, 09:58 AM #5

Changing the OS is expected and would not invalidate the warranty. These are all official RIM releases for the Blackberry Bold, so all legitimate.Personally I love my .666 and would not want to let it go. .668 is based on different code (explained in threads elsewhere) but is also pretty good I think. There is a collection of useful opinions in here about other versions: New Bold! Software update? Bundle 2391

thanks God. What i really liked about it was that the audio was pretty good, with solid bass, not like in this version
That's my post
I had a look on it, and I saw different comments (in it yours). I will try with .666, because I hate the audio in .723. It's not clear, not even with bass. Hope that it'll be a good one. BTW, thanks for the info about the warranty!

I have never compared the audio quality side-by-side so can't comment. I will be interested. The phone sounds great to me on .666, again decent quality headphones help.
As to warranty and OS versions - these updates are more like Windows Updates really. User installable and officially released. And thanks to RIM always having the same firmware for all phones no matter the carrier, then there should be no hassle. - 07-13-2012, 08:10 PM

Good to know. Well, i have installed .666. Until now, it seems as it is much faster than .723, but can't be sure yet. As to the sound, bass is back! It's a pleasure to listen to music with the speaker. .524 had powered bass, and .723 lacked of it. .666 it's the perfect combination. The sound isn't crispy at all, it's nice and clear. Doing great until now!

Have tested for like 5 days. I love it. Everything works great. Battery life it's pretty good, it lasts me (with normal-intense use) a day-day and a half. Sound is just a gift from God. What drew my attention was the signal strength. It's the only version which hasn't sent me a no-signal sign until know. Thanks for the advice of .666!!

Glad you like it.
It has done sterling work for me. I think I also agree with the signal as it can find a 3G signal in locations previous OS versions couldn't. I thought that was just my imagination.
I find that if I spend a lot of time in a UMA environment, away from 3G, that battery life can go on for days and days of light use.
