Does the bold 9780 have a faux leather battery corver like the 9700 ?

Although it doesn't look like it in Kevin's unboxing video, I can confirm that the 9780 does indeed have the same faux leather battery cover as the 9700.

EDIT: It's not the same. Mine is a pre-release model and the battery door is the same as the 9700, although production models have a slightly different pattern.

Hmmm, mine's similar but not the same as the 9700. It's a sort of 'finer grain'.
I prefer it actually....

The 9780 is an ugly son of a b... anyway.
No chrome, no leather (that patch on the battery cover means nothing and is actually causing more harm than good to the phone, just decide if leather or no leather, not just a patch. In the same regard,the Bold 9000 had a real leather back).

The "pleather" might vary in looks but the cover is identical. The 9780 and 9700 covers are interchangeable.

Each is looking for something different in their "status symbol" phone! I think my 9780 makes my 9700 look cheap and toy like! The black on black looks fine!

...and FYI the Bold 9000 also has a faux leather battery cover, NOT real leather

If it had a leather back, that was the most synthetic breed of cow imaginable!!!

I love the blacked out look, although I do want the red. I think it's a gorgeous device.

The 9780 also has a more powerful processor, more memory, a better camera, runs OS6 out of the box, has a black bezel, and dark chrome keypad frets.

5MP camera, 512mb of internal memory and stuck on OS6. Besides that and the black details, they are the same phone. (processor happens to be the same 624mhz one).

If you update a 9700 to OS6, it may even fool some people.
