Call reception on T-Mobile
So I'm in love with this 9780 and have had no problems thus far. The one thing I've noticed, however, is that when I'm in an area that has full 3G reception and I receive a call, my signal would drop to GPRS or 3g (small g). Anyone know why? Thanks!

No one knows for sure, but regardless of the OS I get it on my 9700 and my 9300. Must have something to do with T-Mobile's switch, but I get it in certain areas. (If I'm in downtown Cincinnati it stays 3G). So I'll assume it has to do with coding within the towers....

I experienced the same problem, but with streaming data like podcasts. I will stream on EDGE only but be able to make calls on 3G anytime... weird.

I had an issue where I would have full service when my phone would be setting somewhere but as soon as iwould move it or pick it up is lose just about all bars.. I would get random dropped calls and then when in places where my bf (who has a 9700 on tmobile). Would have service and I couldn't get service to save my life. I ended up callin tmo about the issue and got a replacement phone. Haven't had an issue with it since.

My phone does lose a little signal strength when I touch it from sitting alone for a while.. but never total drop off. Maybe you had the dreaded iPhone antenna issue... LOL!!!

This is more of a network issue. I've experimented heavily on this topic. I placed two T-Mobile cell phones in the same exact spot (in the specific locations that this occurs in my city), one being a Blackberry 9700 and the other being a Samsung Gravity 2. Both handed over from 3G to gprs at the same exact time. Performed similar experiments with multiple phones such as the G1, same exact results. The fact that they are handing over at the same exact time proves to be a network related issue. So I'm in love with this 9780 and have had no problems thus far. The one thing I've noticed, however, is that when I'm in an area that has full 3G reception and I receive a call, my signal would drop to GPRS or 3g (small g). Anyone know why?
