Buying a nuked Blackberry
Hello,
Little twist on the normal nuked threads. Been looking for a 9780, and came across a really cheap one today that's being sold with a 507 error. From what I've read, it's solve-able, but would it be a bad idea to do this? It doesn't look like the phone can't be fixed, so I doubt it would be a waste.
Anyone ever done something like this? - 04-08-2012, 09:58 AM #2A Simple Truth: If we are all here, then we must not be all there. - Neil deGrasse Tyson

Depends how cheap it is. Often someone who is not technical will just sell devices when they hit problems which can be reset with a little technical know-how.
If it is totally stuffed then you have a device for parts. Spare battery, keyboard, etc. You could then either keep the parts for your own use, or sell on to other owners. - 04-08-2012, 10:02 AM

It would be a pickup, literally down the street.
And they're selling it $100 cheaper. I'm just wondering if it's possible for the phone to be truly nuked, it's got the 507 error. - 04-08-2012, 10:04 AM #5
I had a JVM error on my first Bold. I reloaded the OS and it worked again.
*i am not sure if this will work with all JVM *** - errors. I'm unable to remember which JVM error I had now. - 04-08-2012, 10:10 AM

Seems from the threads I'm reading that error 507 is pretty common, and easily fixed. Seems like a no-brainer to get the phone.
