Maybe the battery is just low because it's old and replacing it will fix this issue.

Default Battery Life

I was having major battery life problems on my 9780. I reinstalled the OS, reinstalled all the apps, and it continued. It even happened when I had all the wireless turned off including wifi, bluetooth, 2G & 3G. I tried the following and it worked like a charm

Options / Device / Storage / BB button / safely remove media card

Then pop off the back cover, remove the media card, wait 30 seconds, put it back in.

Abra cadabra, my battery life has improved by an order of magnitute.

Should i install a new OS?
I don't like Downgrading
u shouldn't
there r 2 os u should install: 480 and 666 (many people say it's the best)
but i think u should install the newest rom: 723, 706,...it is up to your BB
special: after u install new os, u should do a battery pull 2-3 times one day in 2-3 days

I have a battery draining issue with my 9780 too; but not on the same level as yours. I also don't have many apps; yet after 8 or 10 hours (instead of 24+), the battery is quite low. Anyways, I was told to buy a new battery for my phone. They're pricey (anywhere from $50 - $120 or so [I've heard different things from different people and sales representatives]); but that might be a last resort to solve your problem. It was also recommended to me to close all apps running in the background. Try deleting themes and apps that you don't use so more space is on your device. Good luck!

Freeing space doesn't affect battery life, same with the number of things installed. You can get extra batteries, preferrably the extended ones, on ebay for $12.

Hey, thanks for your comment! I guess the sales representatives would refrain from giving me that advice, lol... .

Dude, not so. I have been using mine since the day I got it. Provides tons of juice to go around.

My 9700's got two, one is getting a bit round, once it refuses to take a charge or gets TOO big, I'll recycle it.
