    Hi

This is not a technical question in anyway but whats it like to use?

I mean compared with the 9700 does it feel like an upgrade, is it quicker? Or does it just feel like the 9700 with an upgraded OS?

Sorry I am not wording this very well, but I am just trying to get an idea if its worth upgrading to or not. I have a 9700 and yesterday I got a Torch. I love OS6 but I don't like the Torch. It feels big and underpowered. It kind of reminds me of the first Storm in that the idea was great but it didn't really work as well as it should of. (Maybe I just like my BB's to be more of the traditional style)

well the 9780 feels like a nice upgrade. the os is much faster on the 9780 than the 9800 for some reason. keep in mind the ram/cpu/space is the same on both units. so its a software thing that needs an OS update to correct it.

i love the idea of having a bigger screen for browsing. also the fact that the 9800 just got a leaked update that completely refreshes the phone with no more lag, faster browser loading, improved notification bar and over all generally faster os over the orig .141. that and i like to try new phones all the time. i have had this 7 weeks now and its an awesome phone but the novelty of it has gone. ya i will take OS6 over 5 any day. seeing the specs of both the 9800 AND 9780 are the same and with the 9800 having that new os leaked update fixed most of the know software issues... well time to change again. =)

Yes, I'd be interested in seeing it as well.

Does a better (still) camera also mean better quality video (since the vid cam will be using much of the same equip as the higher quality camera, lense, etc)?

How can you "swap" phones if you have had the 9780 for 7 weeks? Is the swap out period there longer than the 30 days that is allowed here?

Oh yes, and please take some video B4 you let that one go (you lucky dawg!)

already installing it as we speak. the store i got it from will let me swap back in because the demand for this phone is high as its not released. as well he will sell it as used and i will pay prob 50-100bux to swap them.
from what i have heard from another member here the new OS update for this phone is awesome. as well no more 602 error.
still want a torch for the large screen for browsing and few other apps. prob keep for a few months add see how it goes... but if i can swap to new phones every few months and pay 50-100bux is not a bad deal and then im not tied to a contract either.
plus by mid nov this 9780 should be retail.

Is there anyway to confirm whether or not the 9700 and 9780 will have the exact same screen size? The reason I ask is that I cover all my devices with screen protectors from zagg.com and would like to order a new one in advance of the release of the 9780.... Definitely picking this bad boy up as soon as it releases....

Tired of my 8900.... Great phone but it's time has passed...

    Sorry, no

The only rumour I have read/seen is that Vodafone are taking it, but I can't see them releasing it for a couple of months yet.

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping that Orange pick it up too, and that it's less than a couple of months! Hopefully it'll just get released across the board quietly in place of the 9700 as soon as it's good to go.

Just wondering is there a SIGNIFICANT difference in the 9780 and the 9700? I've watched the video and really its just a OS change right?

The ability to run OS6 smoothly out of the box with 512MB RAM, compared with the 256MB of the 9700 is pretty SIGNIFICANT

...also the 5MP camera and black bezel are different

Just called Orange UK and they're getting the 9780, with their systems are showing its arrival as early October - the same time that they're getting the Torch, so it could be here really soon
