Search the forums for a later version of OS 6, then download it, install it, then search for vendor.xml, if on windows 7, you'll need to use everything portable from C|Net download.com. If on windows XP, make sure to check Hidden and System Files, Subfolders and make sure to start within C:\ only.

If your battery life doesn't change, then you might need to get a new one. They're available on ebay for $12 (extended ones, the fat type, 2400-3000 mAh) or less (1500 mAh aftermarket OEM type).

Since it's winter and all.. How cold is your phone? Because temperature can seriously drain a battery in an hour.

You know, that actually makes a ton of sense. My battery life was great in the summer; and now it'll drain anywhere from 6-10 hours. Perhaps this is just a coincidence and I need a new battery, but still! Temperature could be a factor. I've heard that it makes touchscreen phones a bit harder to operate (someone with a touchscreen phone told me that); so maybe it will also affect battery life, as well.
