I have set an mp3 tone as alarm alert. But with every fw upgrade, the escalating volume doesn't work, it rings at the lowest volume when escalating is selected for the volume.
Why is it so hard for RIM to fix this? Am I missing something here? Is there a workaround?

I totally depend on my 9780 for alarm and I'm always on the move....no need to carry alarm clock. I have this "alarm clock" apps plus some customized mp3 ringtones. They are so...fw Loud that it will wake u up from dead too. Those mp3 ringtones I copied from sony ericssion & nokia phone.
My alarm setting works flawlessly no matter how many times I upgrade OS. I do not use this escalating vol things. I just need Loudness and do not care about sound quality.

Try another mp3 as they are not all created equal. I use my BB for an alarm and find "Evolving Seaside" to start nice and low and will wake the dead towards the end. Not all tone work the same.

When you set it to escalating, Your BB starts playing the selected track from the least volume and upwards. Just leave the volume at 10 and see the speakers blasting your ears off (not literally though :-p). Hope that helps..!
