I agree, the 9780 is a great phone. Two major things I love about it: 1) backlighting on keyboard is brilliant and 2) quality of speakerphone is absolutely perfect. Yes the 9900 is great too but they're very different.
Oh, and still prefer the red power/off key and green phone key. I'm kind of sorry they moved to all white buttons.
I don't think there is a "Best" BlakcBerry because each device has something special of its own. I own a 9930, but wish it had auto focus for the camera. The 9780 is nice, but I think the keyboard on the 9930 is better. Like Kevin says, "there is no perfect smartphone, only the perfect smartphone for you."
I had the 9900 for 4 months, now im back to the 9780. The 9780 is better than the 9900 in the key points : battery life, signal strenght (and call quality), hand grip, and overall OS performance . Nowaday i think the 9780 is the best BB, an improvement version of the classic 9700.
9900 has poor battery life compared to 9780, so it doesnt make the best in BB!

That depends on the OS you're using. I'm currently rocking the 9900 Blackberry Smartphone and it's quick impressive in the battery category. I have two batteries, but have to wait over a day on moderate to heavy usage before changing them out. I'm using Rogers' OS 22.214.171.1241.
With that being said, I do miss my 9780's size and leather backing.
Well I own a 9780 and love the 9900. I'm not a huge camera user and love the roomy keyboard. That being said I won't trade my 9780 for one. Although I want to get a 9900 I'll hang out for BB10 and hope that the 9900 successor will be at least as good as the current model.
So each to their own. They're both sexy devices in my opinion and as nothing in life is perfect get both . You can't go wrong then haha
What's your average battery life on this model?
I can go a week without charging with average use of the web, 1-2 phone calls a day, ~20 messages. Some Google maps here and there.
Always close my apps. BBM is unistalled. 70% backlight, 10sec timeout.
One week until i go in the red. The battery in this model is awesome i think.
