That's "4"G, aka faux G, aka 3.5G, aka HSPA+

It does have HSPA, but not HSPA+. Sorry, only 3/3.5G. 4G isn't for a long time in reality.
Enjoy what you have!

some carriers use certain frequencies, and other carriers use different ones. not all phones, and 9780's, use the same either. your phone and her phone are made with different cellular radios, with different frequencies, to meet the needs of each carrier. they can both use EDGE on either carrier, but their 3G bands are going to be different. this isnt RIM's fault, or your carriers fault. you purchased a device that wasnt intended to be used on your network, therefore doesnt have the correct 3G bands. there is NOTHING you do to make it work on 3G. no OS loads, no talking to your carrier. you need to buy the type of 9780 with the correct 3G bands...period.
think of it this way....its like you and your friend both have Volkswagen Jettas. you have a TDI (diesel) and she has a normal gasoline one. sure they are the same car and do the same things, but your fuel requirements are different and not interchangeable. then its like you going to VW to complain that you cant use gasoline in the car. they will tell you its because you purchased one with those specific needs, and nothing you do short of an engine swap will fix that. if you want to use gasoline, they will tell you to sell it and buy the correct version.Last edited by dictoresno; 06-06-2012 at 12:48 AM.
