Y and Z buttons are reversed , how i fix it?
Hi there ,
I've got my Berry from Hungary (T Mobile).
and I use it with a different carrier abroad.
The problem with my device is , when I set it to english united states , the Y and Z buttons are replaced (clicking Y type Z and via verse)
How can I fix it ? I don't mind installing any firmware needed , just dont know how.... - 06-08-2010, 03:34 AM #2
Is your keyboard layout QWERTY or QWERTZ? If it's QWERTZ then there's nothing you can do to switch it, friend.

Maybe not strictly true. If the language change from Hungarian to En-US also changes the keyboard mapping to behave like the regular US-english layout (QWERTY) then it should be possible to replace the keypad (buttons). Try Cellular Nationwide Network - 3G, Sony, Panasonic, LG, SonyEricsson, Nokia, Tools, BlackBerry, for replacement keypads, and the tools to install.

I dont know what is the keyboard layout because I purchased a new keyboard with another set of chars on it and that keyboard is QWERTY.
How I change the lang. to En-Us ? I think it is already set through options to En-US but still behave like qwertz and not qwerty.
can firmware update fix it ? - 06-08-2010, 04:51 AM #5
i couldve sworn a QWERTZ keyboard is also a permanent feature of the circuit board itself. just replacing it with a QWERTY keypad will not change this. this has been discussed before, and im fairly sure this is way it is.

so you WANT it to be QWERTY?
unfortunately, the phone is hard-wired to be QWERTZ. you will have to get another phone. there is nothing you can do it change it.Previously: Blackberry Bold 9700 - 6.0.0.344
Currently: Motorola Atrix - Android 2.2

Like the others said it is hard wired into your phone and changing the keyboard will not change it.
Only RIM could reprogram the circuit board and that will not happen. - 06-08-2010, 07:31 AM #8
There is nothing you can do. QWERTZ and QWERTY keyboards and hardwired at manufacture.

Now you tell us the keyboard is already changed - that won't work, it is fixed in the mainboard as others have noted. I misunderstood your original message.
