| | LoL! I've answered several threads lately, where people are upset they can't move up an OS version. No, they don't enjoy pissing off their customers.
Have you shrunk the OS before install, how many apps do you have installed, what file free memory do you have on boot, how many apps are constantly running, have you tried a hybrid and which OS are you currently running?

Only 256MB RAM Updated my 9700 to OS6 .668 and as with the lack of RAM continually came up with lag. After much research (here & Google) i have used BB Boss and have gained up to 98MB after shrinking - on the phone.
Now running:
BB App World 3
FB
Google Maps
Google Sync
QuickPull
One Touch Flashlight
BB Protect
Photo Studio Camera +
WRC
XE Currency
Gmail
Opera Mini

I agree with eSport. With both 668 & 723 I can start with 113 and 110 mb of free memory (respectively) after shrinking and they both run very well with quite a few apps loaded. With 723, the free memory dropped slowly over the first 4 days to 95 mb then shot back up to 101 mb and has remained roughly at that figure for the next 4 days up to and including today. I am constantly using Facebook and this site, emailing, texting and using the phone. Always close apps properly. Don't just press the back key.
Still, if your not happy with OS6, go back to OS5. After all, the 9700 and OS5 were made for each other but at least RIM gave us the option of using OS6.

OS 6 ran like a champ on my 9700, and I had scads of apps on it. Shrink heavily. I like multi-function apps to save space, too. Socialscope for Facebook and Twitter, QuickLaunch for flashlight and screenshots, as well as tons of other shortcuts. Shrink and consolidate.

funny enough, owned 3 9700's with OS6, never even thought of shrinking and they worked flawlessly |

In all the times I had my 9700, I loved it, it worked fine with OS 6. I new how to properly manage it. It still does work well. It's my roaming blackberry, unlocked and all, for when I do travel.

For many of the reasons mentioned, I am considering going back to OS5.

os 5 on the 9700 is a beast.if you want fully functioning os 6-then 9780 is your choice.you have to shrink os 6 on the 9700 to have it work well.sorry everything has its limitations.you can't force it.it doesn't work that way.

I had issues with the previous 6.0 bundle 2342, v6.0.0.526, so I downgraded to several OS 5 which peeps said were good through google. But ultimately, though snappier, I was not happy with it.
So, I upgraded to the latest one 6.0 bundle 2949 v6.0.0.668 and have been pretty happy with it. I don't know what they did from 2342, but it is snappier and I don't get any wierd clocks, or page cannot load type errors.
