Default Why does downloaded files on my phone end in .REM extension

I noticed that downloaded file on my phone ends in .REM extension,why is this so and how do i convect they into the right format? Most especially the .EXE file. Please help me out

[spell check some of your words] first thing is what type of files did you download? are they JAR. for java etc..

Those are files encrypted files. Turn off encryption in the Media Card options.

Thanks for the tips. Have done that,but the files didn't revert to the original format. Should try renaming or should just do a fresh download?

important is dont sell your phone with which you downloaded the files as it is an hardware encryption as far as i know.

i had the encryption activated and the only ways i have found (in my case it were pics)

using bluetooth to send the picture from the device to another (with no encryption ) or sending via wifi or 2g 3g etc to email account. this was a while ago but i dont think it chanced much.

perhaps wifi + dropbox?

Thanks a bunch guys,I transfered the files via bluetooth to another phone and the .REM extension is no more. Am so so greatful. Crackberry is the best

You can turn off media card encryption to avoid .REM (aka useless) files being wrecked in the future. It's only needed if you work for a top secret government/spy agency. I have heard horror stories from students where all their photos/videos of a project were lost forever.
