Picked up my 9700 earlier today, previous phone was the 9000.
The 9700 is great apart from one nagging issue - you can't press two keys at once on the keyboard, for instance : you can't hold down the 'alt' key and input numbers, they have to be pressed individually. It really slows down my typing. I don't know why it's like this.

I can hold down 2 keys......
My input is that it's the best CURVE ever made. Doesn't really fell like the "bold" line of blackberry. Which is fine since I felt the old bold was too big and bulky.

picked mine up yesterday, coming from an Iphone 3GS...
So far liking it a lot. The spacebar seems a little small though, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Its great having push email back!

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | I also came from a Pearl. It's night and day. These two phones aren't even close. I love everything about the phone.
My only question is what took RIM so long to introduce the trackpad?!? A friend of mine who just got a Bold9000 last month is kicking himself for not waiting. He hates the trackball on the Bold.

Coming from an 8900... not a huge change but having the trackpad is wicked... its the main reason I switched... not having to worry about your hands being a bit greasy or anything... its fantastic!
overall its just plain faster than my 8900... loading photos, apps, and of course the 3G... I love it

Previous Phones were Curve 83XX, Bold 9000 and 8900.
The 9000 was my favorite phone in terms of functionality and feel. It was however, as noted above, a bit big and bulky. I generally keep my phone in my front pocket and the 9000 was quite bulky. I had the 8900 for a little bit because it was smaller but the bold it was not.
The 9700, while a bit on the small side, is the perfect blend of form and functionality. I prefer the BOLD style keypad and the track pad is awesome. It is the best Blackberry I have ever had.

i'm coming from a iphone 3gs, but the 9700 will be my back up, i will still use my iphone as my daily driver. I did own the 9000 before and while it was ok, it was just to slow for my liking. The 9700 is amazingly fast. The best part of the phone is the track pad by far. When i first turned my phone on, it was loading and the track pad was slow, i was thinking that this thing sucks. But everything is fine now, and i love it a lot. their are some bugs with it, like facebook will slow down the phone a bit, well it does mine. One of my themes won't load properly. but other then that it's ok.

So I got mine today literally 1 hr ago just got done moving my info
its a killer BB, track pad is awesome i wont miss the track ball one bit
hehehe!
speed is good, sound in your ear is good
build quality is good and tight
I did not have the troubles kevin did with the
battery door ROFL
one lil strange thing to take out the SD chip
you gotta take out the batter but its cool
I love the form factor, just perfect, it does fit in
a 8300x case
looks classy, key board is soft and luxury feeling
nice and smooth like 9000.
This one came with .321 no problems out of the
box ...
I am loading in new apps as we speak, I did a reboot
for an app install - the reboot speed is much better
3G signal is strong
more later ...

I love the look of it, and I got used to the smaller keyboard in no time. It's snappy, but the 9000 was never slow either. I just love the size and the baterry that goes on twice as long as my 9000's.

Coming from the 9000 this new Bold doesn't have the same "wow" factor for me. The trackpad is a good improvement as well as the solid battery door, but I miss the size.

| | Only 1 issue
From 8310 (for the past 2 years)
Love just about everything on the 9700, it's a big step up from the 8310. The 1 issue I have had so far is with TeleNav. It wasn't available on the phones release day, I had to wait 3 days until the 9700 version was released. Downloaded it as soon as available and it ran fine for the first day & a half, then it wouldn't load and went into a continous loop between log in screens.
Rogers tech supports best option to fix the issue was a delete and re-download. So far that has worked, but when I asked the tech guy if it was likely to happen again he said probably. This kind of surprised me as it's software Rogers pe-loads onto thier phones, when I mentioned this to the tech support he said "it's a 3rd party app and not FULLY supported"
I asked if I had the option to not FULLY pay for it each month until full support was available, but that wasn't an option apparently.
