If you are going to run OS6 on your 9700 you need to prepare the OS by 'shrinking' out unneeded and unnecessary files that you do not need. The 9700 was built to run OS5 that has a smaller file size than OS6. The latest is .706 and everyone will have different opinions on what is the best.
Try .706 after you have shrunk it down.

Doesn't anyone search the forums any more before they start a thread? This topic has been totally exhausted now. I could understand it if we were still bombarded with OS leaks but that hasn't happened for a while now.

I'm using v6.0.0.706 and even after shrinking it seems like that's not enough...@.@

I personally have not been happy with any release of OS 6 on my 9700... So finally I ventured into the land of hybrids, and will never look back. I highly recommend any of the B@stard hybrids. They run so much better than any stock OS. And also as others have said, definitely shrink the OS before installing!

os 6 was never meant to function well on the 9700.thats why rim launched the 9780.on a 9700,never updated to os 6.os 5 was like zeus on wheels.battery life of 2-3 days was the best on any smartphone.rim really did a wonder with it.

If you know how to manage the OS you can run OS6 perfectly well on the 9700, just ask all those doing so.

I don't think i'm technically minded, or gifted enough to change the OS to a hybrid. I just about managed to upgrade my handset to OS6 haha

Im running OS 6.0.0.666 on my 9700. I shrunk down the OS before loading it up and I find it is a very stable build so I am not upgrading from this build. Started out with 100mb application memory. I do not have any memory leaks, if I do, which has happened, it was related to an app and not the OS. Deleting the app stopped the memory from leaking.

Its clear that if you want to run OS6 on a 9700, you must shrink the OS down before you install it. There is really no other way to have a pleasant experience with OS6 on a 9700.
