Default Way to solve/reduce battery drain 9700/OS6?

Is there a way (i.e. installing new cod files) to reduce battery drain in a 9700 with a 706 OS6?

My new battery dies at 40/45%, lower value I reach was 30-35%...is it possible??

I also had the same problem with my Bold 9780. All I had to do was to replace the battery with an original one. Careful with these batteries cos they are very hard to differentiate. I hope this helps.

This problem only used to occur in very early releases of OS6. I haven't experienced it in any of the versions above 546 and Iv'e not seen any other posts about it of late.

Perhaps you have a hardware fault causing the battery to fall over.

Have you tried dropping back to OS5 to check what happens?

I like very much OS6, and I prefer not coming back to OS5. Anyway I'm thinking to install or 546 or 668 to see if I'll see better performance.
I've read that some hybrids allows usage until 5%....and i thought to use some related battey cod files...but i don't know what files...

Just install 668. It's SOLID.

2 to 3 days with the battery and dispite what others say, I now don't have a memory leak. It just fluctuates with normal useage after an initial drop of about 15mbs.

The battery will not suddenly drop off like you mention unless you have other issues. You could still go back to OS5 just to check. It's no hardship to go back to OS6 afterwards.

Remember, you must shrink OS6 quite heavilly for it to run well on your 9700.

Alan.

I have a temporary fix, the phone tends to heat up quite a bit when the battery drain is in progress so i just turn my radio off for a min or so and restart it and it stops the drain or just do a battery pull. I think it is the 3G that is causing it.

It's possible/or maybe the WiFi searching for hotspots.

I was in China for a week between Xmas and the New Year, set the following.

Mobile Network.
Data Services > On
While Roaming > Off
Mobile Network: Service Provider - Home
Network Selection Mode > Automatic
Network Mode > 3G & 2G

Manage Connections > WiFi On

Over the week on 2 days - not consecutive the battery just died/drained within 5/6 hrs. Very hot and main use was emailing. I was out & about dropping in and out of the hotel WiFi. Each day backed up via BBDM, but other than that was running OS6 .534 - ball breaker.

Since i've been back updated to .668 and shrunk using BB Boss. The only correlation is can see is that the battery drain could have been having WiFi on permanently. In Australia there are not many WiFi hotspots - has not taken off like OS. So if i know i'm going to be somewhere with WiFi and working then i'll leave WiFi on. Otherwise to conserve battery just run with the Home Network.

Turn off what you don't need if not using wifi or bluetooth. If not using your blackberry, holster it. Any apps, if not using them, close/exit them, disable the auto-updating of any apps such as twitter and facebook or any other apps that have it until you use them. Even lowering the screen's brightness.
