i had a 'missed call' from a person that was not currently in my contact list so only the number was shown. the ringtone sounded for 6 rings and then the 'you have 1 new missed call' dialog box popped up. i added that number to contacts, entered her number as a mobile number and put her name in the 'first name' space. then saved the entry.

next time that person rang, nothing showed on my screen, no ringtone sounded and only when she put the phone down at her end did i get the 'you have 1 new missed call' dialog box.

i couldn't work out why this was happening so i deleted the person from my contacts and asked her to ring again. when she rang this time, the ringtone sounded as normal for 6 rings and then the 'you have 1 new missed call' dialog box popped up.

so the problem? when this person is in my contact list i get no ringtone sounding when they ring.

any ideas what is going on? this is really doing my head in
