Upgrade to BB OS 6 renders 9700 useless!

I recently installed the new BB Desktop Manager and the first thing it told me was that my BB 9700 OS is out of date.

It says "Update available: 6.0 Bundle 2534".

So I followed instructions and did the upgrade only to realise this made my BB completely useless. As soon as it booted up for the first time after the new OS install, the trackpad no longer worked!

I was unable to scroll through the disclaimer or click at all.

I spent the next few hours downgrading through the various versions all of which had some or other problem.

I am now back to v5.0.0.423.

Can anyone tell me if it IS possible to upgrade to OS 6 on a BB 9700? If so what did I do wrong?

If it is not possible, why on earth are RIM advising people to upgrade in the desktop manager software?

I have done a lot of other searching and research and no-one seems to have a solution.

You should try the other version of os 6 that onyx have. I think .666 or 570 will be better for your 9700.
Don't forget to shrink the java folder before you load.

I would have to disagree with you on that as upgrading to OS6 and stability issues is a hot topic here on CB and just a small search would have yielded a lot of issues and solutions.

The update is pushed thru DM by your carrier not RIM and the OS6 file is a much bigger file than OS5 and requires 'shrinking' prior to install to remove unwanted/unneeded files.

If you want to upgrade do some reading first on different methods to install the OS properly but if you are more comfortable with OS5 ignore the update from DM.
