unable to connect to router

hi all. i bought one of those mini wifi routers to use at hotels when i travel. problem is my 9700 connects to it, but will not get internet. the router works fine because i can connect to it from my laptop and even my playbook. my 9700 shows full signal but i get a message "unable to connect to the requested server" when i try to use the browser and bbm over wifi doesnt work. ive have many OS's, but my phone and this router just doesnt agree.

Can you connect to other routers?
Is your data working correctly over the carrier network?

data working fine over the carrier network and have no probs connecting to other routers. this is the only one my phone has issues with.

Likely the router isn't compatible with your blackberry. Does the playbook and other device work properly with it? Have you tried accessing 192.168.1.1, or the address in the router's manual to enable/disable some settings?

Yes I have had similar issues with my 9700, not sure why but it would connect to every other router but my own house router. Funny thing is it used to work a couple months back, they probably dont like each other anymore.

Lemme ask, did you update the OS on your device? Maybe that could have caused the incompatibility. It's a pain in the arse sometimes. Also need to ask if you deleted the wifi profile on the device and rebooted the router. If I already asked if you rebooted the router, my bad lol

Just got back from a wasted trip to the walmart which happened to be closed.
