Default Thoroughly Looked Into White Screen Issues

So my sister's blackberry just white screen'd out and now as a curious brother, I wanted to tinker with it and fix it. I have invested numerous hours scouring threads to see what works and what doesn't.

Some People Claim:

The 4 solder points by the micro usb port creates a short

The cable connecting the camera and micro SD reader is corroded.

Some People's Fixes

LCD screen is busted, just replace it

Place electrical tape on solder points

Press the screen tightly on the top two corners of the screen.

What I did:

So I first check to see if the screen was an issue. I wiped the device using JL_Cmder and then reloaded the latest os6 onto it. I could hear that intro music as if the device was being used for the first time, but the screen was still white. At this point I figured I'd replace the screen. I made sure as to check the model of the screen and used the exact same model for a replacement. When I plugged in the phone to power it up to see if this would do it, the screen now comes back with a fuzzy colored background, like colored static and you can see a somewhat resemblance of a loading bar. For me it loads about 1/3 of the way. So determined to believe that this screen I bought wasn't the problem. I performed several hard resets (battery pull) and kept getting the same thing. When I pressed really hard on the screen and had the camera cable unhooked, I finally saw the blackberry logo on a black background. Here's the odd part. This time and every other time after it, as I mentioned there was a loading bar and it loaded part way, but now there is what seemed like a mirrored loading bar this time about 1cm down from the top of the screen that loads at the same time as the other one. Other than that, it stops loading and then ... hard reset.

Anyone know of any other methods to be used, or know what this colored fuzzy screen mean? Loaded and wiped this thing many times. Open to suggestions

Just to make sure the phone is working and all I found this link to display your blackberry screen onto your computer:

http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-gu...enstream-8875/

using JL_Cmder Java loader which you can get here:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...-jl_cmder.html

i was able to see if my blackberry was working or not. you can see that although the brand new lcd screen partially loads and looks frozen, the phone works flawlessly because of the live stream via USB cord to the computer.

http://s706.photobucket.com/albums/w...56/blackberry/

So anyone know what a possible fix could be. Phone works as seen on the computer screen, but brand new screen on phone. No go.

IMO, you've got two options after you've already tried reloading the os and replacing the screen. Either take it to a repair shop, or sell the phone as spares and replace it.

now this is just my guess and tell me if im wrong, but since im seeing the blackberry logo but its failing to load past it even though on that program it clearly loads past it, could it just be the connection where the lcd screen ribbon meets the motherboard. Could a piece of say aluminum foil in between the lcd connector ribbon and motherboard do it?

The ribbon than connects the screen asctually has around 12 pins, so tin foil would only short the connection out, and possibly even break your phone. When you reinstalled the os, did you try updating to a newer os and use apploader not dm?

I had the same problem but i had 3 and i was told they all had ESD (Electrostatic discharge) thinking back the guy that told me was kinda drooling... i guess he figured i would just give them away.
I purchased all china made screens and yes they all had the proper -002/111 or -004/111 but are garbage....Dim and display issues...
Anyway to make a long story short i decided after many tries to load them back to original OS5... guess what now all 3 bold 9700s work...i just sold two and kept one to work on...
I now decided to try and load OS6 to the last one i kept i will report soon as to what happened.
Try to load back to OS5 and see what happens..

Me again yes the China made screens are the problem... they will not accept OS6 downloads the screen goes back to fuzzy coloured display...So i opened BBSAK went to screen shots and it show home screens no problem... i wiped the phone again and reloaded with original OS5 and yes the Bold 9700 worked again...you can only load the phone with these cheap screens to the latest OS5 that`s it...
Will have to source higher quality screens to accept OS6...
And all the numbers on the original and new screens all match..Go figure

So I am only familiar with using DM to get OS5 on their, but i know that to use apploader, you go to your program files, find the RIM folder and its an app in there. Where would you go to get those packages/file of OS5?

And for the rest of the process, Wipe the phone using JL_Cmder, and I have to load the original carrier OS unless I delete the Vendor.xml file in order to do that. I have an at&t unlocked to t-mobile is why I mention this.

I'm hoping that the only issue would have been my cheapness in getting this Chinese screen and that my problem is right along the lines as the ones you experienced. Hoping for the best

What i did was wiped the phones using i myself like BBSAK for blackberry`s so easy to use... but anyway load the original OS5 the very first OS5 that is for At&T you don`t delete vendor file as you are bringing the phone back to original factory settings just app load when you have loaded on pc you should be good to go.
I know its a long process but i have now got the last of the phones loaded with the lastest OS5 that came out the phone is still working fine right now i have V5.0.0.862 bundle 1446 platform 5.1.0.175...
If anyone tries to tell you its not the cheap Chinese screens they don`t know... i also tried a proper screen from my old 9780 and guess what i got OS6 no problem....
Good luck and i guess we know we not going to purchase cheap Chinese Screens anymore

You are the man. This is exactly what my problem was. I managed to find this site for anyone else who has tried to do this. It's very detailed and works when trying to downgrade down to OS5.

Just curious have you been able to find a reputable replacement screen dealer that sells screens that OS6 would work on? thanks
