On your 9630? No idea, never happened on my 9700.

Try a battery pull, or update your OS.

You tried updating OS and that didn't work? That's odd!

Which OS are you running (I don't think .559 exists ), and are these very long SMS threads that won't open?

Some of the older OS builds don't handle long SMS convos very well, but I believe the later .5xx versions do better.

I have .586 on my 9700 and sometimes I cannot open the first SMS in the list. I found that once I open a different one and go back, it opens. If not I delete it.

It doesn't sound like a hardware issue it has to be the os. Check again on what OS build you are using I've not heard of that build.

I had the same Issue on .586 , had to do a quickpull in order to open messages again. Upgrading to the next OS fixed the Problem for me.

I usually have to do a battery pull, when it receives an sms but won't open. It almost always happens on a long thread or in a thread with someone on a provider different from mine.

It's happened randomly with every build of OS5 I have ever run. I have no idea what causes it, but a battery pull cures it.
Jumped ship from Torch 9800 to iPhone 4......and I love it.

I've had the same problem with my 9700 for a couple months and 3 OS updates. Sometimes it corrects itself after ~1min, but sometimes a battery pull is required.. to read a text. It only happens with extremely long text threads (1000+ txts).

I don't have a fix, I just wanted you to know yer not crazy

I'm on 593 and have a similar issue, although I've noticed it more with BBM. Battery pull fixes it every time
