Setting up Hotmail account on Blackberry
So I just got a blackberry bold and I would like my phone to sync with my hotmail account. My previous Android phone was able to download a app to do it, but I do not believe it works on the blackberry.
Anyone know of an application or easy way to not just download mail, but to sync it with my account? - 07-23-2012, 08:54 AM #3
In BB Os there's no need for an app to use the email.
The phone has a native sync in the setup folder, where, if u have a bis or a bes data plan, you can "gain access" to your emails via phone. It's easy and very direct and intuitive. It takes about 10 min to sync more than one account if you want to
No apps. They should've explained it to you when you bought the phone...

Ah ok so let me clarify:
I did not purchase the phone. It was a hand me down.
I do not have a data plan, I use wi-fi to use the browser and any data requiring app.
Wi-Fi would be my only way to update the e-mail, would that work with BIS? Can a phone have BIS without a data plan if it is attached to Wi-Fi? - 11-17-2012, 08:13 PM #5
You need BIS to do what you are describing. BIS is a data plan. That's what you need.

So even though I can run data requiring programs while on Wi-Fi (View hotmail on browser, etc...) I am unable to use the e-mail function of a blackberry?

Yes. That's correct. You cannot use BlackBerry Push Email without a BlackBerry Data Plan.
