Default Seriously...is this a joke?

So I just walked out of my local ATT store and have to admit that I'm speechless. After walking in and asking to see the new Bold 9700 the rep just stood there for a few seconds before picking up a Bold 9000 and passing to me. I finally convinced him that the 9700 was being released today so he walked in the back room and came out with a 9700. So my next question to him was how much does it cost. Sadly, it took him and one other rep about 10 minutes to figure out the price of $459.00. As much as I wanted it, I just walked out shaking my head.

I would have done the same thing. I hate walking into any retail business where
the employees are so clueless. I don't blame you for leaving.

You ought to post the store location so others can avoid that place.

Sorry but if I wanted the phone, finding the reps to be clueless, would not have stopped me from getting it. To each his own.

I'd only leave because the purchase of the phone goes to that retail location.
I wouldn't want to help pay a cent of their payroll.

Lol... Ya find a place that deserves your business... My guy at Tmo knew the date it was dropping. Called me when they had them in store. He then asked me if I wanted to come by, and use it that he would pull one out and charge it up. He also held one for me so I could come get it on my lunch break on release day. I will always buy my phones from him.

I agree. I'm happy that, for the most part, reps at both my local AT&T corporate stores are pretty much on the ball.

But, to the OP...since you knew more than the rep did about availability and pricing already, what else did you have to know that he didn't tell you?

Service on that level is just the reason we do not frequent the local ATT stores. There are third party resellers who do a much better job overall. I paid extra money for that service without a single moment of hesitation or regret.

I think that authorized retailers are the way to go to get anything done. Since they have such limited access compared to a cor location, they seem to be trained twice as well in customer satisfaction.

I'm used to usually knowing more than retail reps. They're just there to sell some phones, where as we've been researching/following this phone for a while. In a perfect world, they should know a good bit about every phone that they sell, but that is just not the case. That goes with any retail store. I have been researching camera for a while and I went to Best Buy the other day to actually touch the ones I had been looking into and the sales rep. in that dept. knew NOTHING about those cameras...I was telling HIM about the cameras lol. It is up to me to be an informed consumer; I just need the sales reps. to ring me up lol.

Last week I went into a store and after the rep finnaly stopped texting someone on his phone he stood up from his leaning position and asked if he could help me. I asked him if they had the 9700 instore and he looked at another rep to ask if they had it only to have both of them say that it is a t-mobil phone only. I opened my e-mail account on my 9000 and showed them the e-mail I got from AT&T and had to show them that they were about to release it today. I then proceeded to tell them that it is sad that customers know more about what they sell then they do. Then I called customer service and told them about the outrage and proceeded to get a $100 discount plus the $100 rebate. No I was not really outraged but I used it to my advantage. get my 9700 on Tuesday, YES

Only problem with using an authorized retailer is that if there is a problem with the phone...you must return it to the same authorized retailer, since his stock cannot be logged with the stock of a real AT&T corp store. If you're in the neighborhood when your phone bellies up...great! If you're out of town...or if your retailer is out of his already limited stock...you're hosed.

I don't even go into AT&T stores anymore they most of the time do not know anything but pushing the iphone in your face. I know there are a few good AT&T employees out there are this not ment towards you but 75% of the time you leave shaking your head at stupidity.
