    Default self generated multiple emails

A few days ago i was emailing from my Bold 9700 arranging to do some new work for a client direct to his Blackberry Orange email.

The following day I got a call from him saying "buddy - stop emailing me - that is 35 emails i have had now from you saying you QUIT. I get it - you dont want to do work for me."

He said he had an email from me with one word QUIT the day before, sent about a couple of hours after my last email to him. now they were coming though again every few minutes.

Not only did i not send the email, the phone had either been off, or just switched back on around the time the email had been sent.

Not knowing anything about the email or how to stop them coming, all i could do was switch off my phone and computer in case. That worked and the emails stopped coming.

But after getting the first email the client had gone to someone else so I lost the business.

Can anyone say if this is a software problem, a 9700 problem or an Orange problem. Orange are investigating but dont know what caused it and dont give compensation for loss of business on a private phone.

I am right at the end of my Orange contract. I was hoping to hold on for a Blackberry 10 when they come out but now i'm not so sure.

    Any ideas

One obvious question... did you actually send any message with the word "QUIT". Sounds a rather unlikely message!

If you haven't already tried a battery pull and reboot that would be a good place to start shutting down the problem.

Branta makes a good point. Did you actually send it, its in one of the sent folders? If so, maybe an applcation or virus type?

Do you know 100 per that they got the email or they are just saying it to get out of a contract or something.

Also, anyone with any programming knowledge or spam can send an email that looks exactly like your email but send it from somewhere else. Maybe it was a compeditor.

Good points, but I didn't send it, not in my sent mail. We are both private individuals and client had just got back in touch having previously instructed me a year ago but had put instruction on hold. No one else knew we were back in touch about this.

Orange can see the emails but don't know where they came from or are not saying.

They offered small refund to my account which I have currently declined as it is around 1% of lost business. I guess they would not have offered this if they could not see a problem.
