Default Retaining apps when wiping?
So I just want to wipe my phone and reload the OS to make it run a bit smoother. If I back up everything using DM, will all my apps and messages be reinstalled when I restore the phone?

no
you will need a 3rd party program like bbsak or bb boss to back them up
and then you can re install them after.
