Default Really good deal on Three - I think it's a fault.

I've been researching different networks for when I come to the end of my contract on Orange (I'm a UK customer), as my home signal is abysmal (UMA is next to useless). I would like a 9700, and have been comparing the contracts.

Orange has the best deals at the moment, which is annoying, but I've been on Three's website today and they're offering the 9700 free on an 18 month contract, with 200 mins, unlimited texts and BIS for £25 a month. This includes a free 9700, whilst the cheaper and more expensive tariffs demand £299.99 (!) and £149.99 respectively. Is this an error?

I do not work for Three, and have heard stories about their total lack of signal, but depending where you are in the country, the same could be said for any network.

I hope I've not breached any rules of the forum, as I'm aware this looks suspiciously like an advert!

I don't know about 3 and my knowledge is based on second hand information. I do not agree with what you said about the signal because Orange is the only UK network that provides UMA which means you can use the phone to make calls provided there is wifi access.
You might want to talk to Orange's disconnections department to see what deal they can offer you.

I'm sure Orange is fine in other location, and is indeed great in my local town, but I have no signal at home, whereas my partner has a full signal on O2. UMA works until I make a call, at which point it drops out in favour of 1 bar GPRS - I've tried making a call whilst standing over my router yet it makes no difference.

I sell business mobile contracts for a living. The deal on 3 is viable, as they are throwing deals about as they are trying to increase market share. The Three network, is backed up by Orange 2G signal in most areas, general rule is that if you have orange coverage, you will have on Three. There are drawbacks tho, if you are in a poor 3 signal area and a strong orange area, it will flick between the two and you get calls dropped in the process.

If you have no signal in the house i would check all networks for coverage. It is true that only Orange use UMA, but vodafone have released a better solution - it still uses voip, but is a hardware box that broadcasts a 3g signal, so anyone with a voda 3g phone will benefit in the house.

I didn't know that 3 had any connection to Orange. I have no personal experience of 3 so can not comment on their service.
Couple of point about Vodafone though
There access point is another electrical. device to clutter the house or business premises. You will have to carry it with you everywhere if you want to use it away from homem as oppose to using wifi on any device on UMA.
I dealt with Vodafone when I had Storm 1 and found their CS crap and they liem I had to use small claims to get shot of them. I woukd rather not have a mobile then use a shody company like Vodafonem.

you wouldnt be wrong with vodas CS being toss, UMA definatly seems to be the way forward, but in reality, its also toss quality, at the moment.
