Question Question about my 9700 and Service in USA

Hi everyone, been looking for this info in the forums but it's a little complicated. Here is the thing as simple as I can explain:

1. Had a Bold 9700 with Telcel contract back in Mexico, 3G with BES service
2. Came to the US, unlocked it successfully with a code I bought, then security wiped
3. Tried to activate it with AT&T sim card without a contract, the guy told us data wouldn't work even if we had a $55 plan with unlimited everything.
4. He offered us a voice and text plan only. Since this is temporary, we went for it and put $25 on it.
5. Phone works, text works, Web browser works! It's not even on wi-fi yet. The system charges us like 5 bucks for some very basic browsing.
6. Try to activate email. The phone only gives us the option of activating a BES account. It still has Telcel welcome screen and stuff, so I think it might be defaulted to use that.

Now the phone is acting up. It sometimes browses, sometimes it doesn't. Is there a way to reset the whole thing and wipe Telcel's trace clean of it, so we can use it with regular email and for texting, calling and browsing?

What carrier and plan would you guys use?

Thanks a lot!!

for email you will need a blackberry BIS plan through ATT.

I do not know why the guy told you it wouldnt work on their system, but he is wrong.

If you have properly removed the BES IT policy, and installed an OS, once you activate it on a BIS plan, normal email set up will show up.

by default BES is the only option in email setup unless you have BIS service books.

you can search the forums on how to properly remove an IT policy, and how to wipe and reload the OS.

Sounds like you need to do a /resettofactory via loader to completely wipe any IT policy/Firewalls....
