Default Problem with the USB Mass Storage

Well I've tried everything and I have googled for like 5 hours... this is my last resort.
For some reason every time I try to plug the silly blackberry into a computer either windows or Mac OS with or without the Blackberry desktop software it starts detecting the cellphone for like 2 secs then it drops.

Its like it cant handle the work or something, windows version just hangs in Initializing Device... forever

Also as a side note my data cable, the USB one is not an original I bought it from a parts store.

My blackberry was recently unlocked other than that, its almost brand new, no other problems have been found on it

I'm starting to think that the USB is the one not letting it get into the mass storage option but I'm not sure, I have already tried the FIX the BB people made, but no luck, it still has the same problem.

Any ideas? I could appreciate the assitance.

Have you tried taking the memory card out of the phone and then place it into the card slot of a laptop. Check if Windows can then read the card.

In mass storage mode it's only the SD card that can be recognised.

Pertaining to the USB mass storage of the SD card only, which is the only thing that could be accessed on a computer, not the device memory (can't open it in My Computer/Finder), it doesn't matter which USB cable you use. It'll still work. I have a blackberry branded cable, a non-branded shorter cable and a spare one too.

I suggest in windows, to restart the computer, then try again. If it doesn't detect it or show up in My Computer, go into Control panel, double click System (View in classic icons because categories are less confusing), then select Device Manager and leaving your blackberry plugged in, delete all of the USB devices. Then restart your computer. The good thing about this, is it will remove any phantom hardware, as in your case.
