    Default Please identify this part

    Hi all.

I have a 9700 that got dropped and this little pice fell out when I opened the phone up. Can anyone please tell me what it is ? I've highlighted it with a yellow arrow and it's definitely the part that broke as I compared it with a pic off the web.

The phone still appears to function normally but it's obviously there for a reason, so hopefully a cheap fix if I can identify what the part is. Many thanks.

Is that the LED beside it? Then maybe that's the ambient light sensor that adjust the light on the keyboard.

Thanks, I was thinking this too, but the light sensor still works. Odd.

The part sheared off in half and the other half of it is still intact on the pcb board, so if it is the sensor, maybe the important part is still there and doing its job ?

If all still works ok, then don't worry about it.
Do as you would be done by and 12 pence to the shilling (or 100 cents to the dollar).

I think it's an antennae connection for engineers when they are doing RF tests on the 9700 circuit board. They physically connect an external wire to it and do their thing. Nothing for you to worry about ..... it's for those guys in labcoats in the engineering dept.

I stand to be corrected though.
