Default Pixelated screen

I recently bought a used 9700 bold. The screen looks pixelated, with low quality and resolution. I found out that some cheap replacement screens are like this, plus I cannot upgrade to os v6.

Now I want to buy a new screen, however I'm not sure if the code on the back of my current lcd is the right one for my device.

Any advice appreciated.

the code on the back is the one you need, just buy the $70 lcd, not the $35-50 lcd.

and that has nothing to do with you not being able to update to os6.

go a forum search for proper upgrade instructions.

welcome to CB.

I found a post previously explainig the exact same problem I have.

9700 002/111 replacement screen poor pixel quality

Apparently the cheap lcd screens are not supported with the v6 os.

yup you got a chinese replacement. Just make sure if you search on ebay or amazon you use the right code on the back and type OEM (orignal equipment manufacturer) that way its guaranteed to be the quality your looking for, or your money back.

Or go to a repair shop and have them replace the screen for you. It's better than risking a knock off.

the CHEAP ones only come up properly with OS5 ..with OS6, it shows distorted when powering up and then shows NORMAL when it comes up fully
