The pearl 9100 a mini bold 9700
I need a new phone and dont have alot of money i have to buy it outright and only need it for texting bbm and pics. I was thinking getting the curve 3g but i dont like the camera and these two phones much much better cameras but whats the difference between the bold 9700 besides made for speed ? Same camera do you think i should go to 9100 since i dont need it for business as much. ?
So basically the pearl 9100 is a bold 9700 in a smaller package just smaller screen and smaller keyboard so it does all the main things ? Like play mobile youtube and browse facebook over wifi and take somewhat good pictures cause really i dont need email but hate touch screen phones and the curve is just to cheap looking. PLEASE ANSWER I NEED YOUTUBE AND FACEBOOK !!!!!Last edited by Jamesowenn; 10-30-2010 at 01:49 AM.

Coming from a 8130 I was seriously considering the 9100 because the specs are very good on it. But I am glad I went with a full keyboard 9700 now that I have it.

The 9700 and 9100 both have the same processor, a Marvell PXA930. So they should operate at roughly the same speed.
Personally, I can't stand the Pearl's keypad. The full QWERTY keypad and longer battery life is what made the choice easy for me.
If you like the Pearls keypad and the smaller size, then go for that. It's a great device. - 10-29-2010, 11:24 PM #4
Side by comparison: BlackBerry 9100 vs BlackBerry 9300
Despite than many people that will tell you to go full QWERTY, I am firmly of the
belief that the Pearl series keyboard outshines the vast majority of them.
I have a 9100 en route and it will no doubt be my primary device with the 9800
(yes, the 9800) being my backup. - 10-29-2010, 11:44 PM #5

the 9100 actually has a better camera, you can record 640x480 videos on it... i had an 8130 and i LOVED the suretype keyboard just because i could type much faster on it.. i say go for it if you don't need full qwerty, the resolution isn't that much smaller and its OS6 ready

I had an 8100 Pearl and was a tank, but ever since going to the 9700, I could never see myself going back to surepress and that small form factor.
This size of the 9700 is perfect and same love the keyboard of the Pearls, but in my case, full kb is the way to go.
That is just me, everyone is different. I say go to a store and monkey around with both.
I have a bbm buddy who had a 9100 for awhile and recently got a 9700 and he as well is glad he made the switch.
Again, you need to test them out for yourself.
