Default OS 5 or OS 6

which of these two are you using?

    Which has less issues?

Which will you recommend for an average user?

    why?

pls make your comment objective. Thanks for your kind and honest contributions

Here is an objective comment, as objective as I can be:

You don't seem like an average user. You seem like a newbie. Nothing wrong with that.

Read the thread posted, of course, but here is the bottom line.

If your 9700 has OS 5 installed, use it for a while. Get a few months behind you.

OS 6 really isn't all that great on the 9700. Maybe you could shrink it down enough, but stock it makes a big hit on memory even when you remove the typical stuff. Plus, the device will be less snappy. What I didn't like, particularly was not being able to use shortcuts and trackpad to navigate the way I was used to doing all along with BlackBerrys.

If you are a newbie, as I suspect, and your 9700 has OS 6 installed you likely won't know the difference. But just be aware you can downgrade easy enough if you want more memory and perhaps more responsive performance.

    Just my "objective" opinion.

... And it's not like it's a weighty decision. When I used a 9700 I installed OS 6 one evening, didn't like it, decided to sleep on it, and downgraded when I woke up the next morning.

Upgrading, downgrading, trying different versions, is all very simple once you know what is involved. You don't need to rely on the opinions of others on whether .123 is better than .321 -- which I don't put much stock in anyway -- because it is better to find out for yourself.

    Hijacking the thread....

May I ask those that are still on OS5 which version do they use? I would like to revert to OS5, and I have no idea of which one to choose. The .1014? Is there some good hybrid?
    Thanks

What shortcuts are you not able to use? Homescreen shortcuts work just as they always have.
