Cant wait to get a blackberry. I'm stuck with my nokia.

Anybody know how to opt out of a contract without paying any money cause my bold contract with AT&T ends december 2010. A friend of mine told me to join the army, opt of the contract, then get de-list (if that is a word) from army. Anybody know if that would actually work?

Yes and no but its not worth the hassle. I really think you should have started to save for one long before now or start now and wait till you can afford it!

Join the Army (or any branch of service) because you want to serve your country, not to scheme your way out of a couple hundred dollar early termination fee! Seriously, as a Veteran myself, that actually kinda upsets me that you or anyone else would even think to do that... Of course, its the people who STAY in the military that give you the freedom to make whatever decision you want Work the system if you think its worth it, just giving my two cents!

Guys calm down, I was just kidding around. I wouldn't actually join the army to this. Just wanted to know if it was actually true.

No biggie, that just hits a chord with me so I wanted to at least put my opinion out there. No harm no foul, I appreciate the clarification. The sad thing is, there are many people who WOULD do that and it really gets under my skin. Good luck getting out of your contract somehow!

they try to do this to help the carrier's i think so that its forces you to pick the features you need. although it does suck for the consumer's who are happy with a carrier and do not want to leave to get a new device with one feature they could really use.

Just so you know, I'm pretty sure AT&T has a "cooling down period"...if you cancel your service, you can't just go back the next day and re-sign up. Last I heard, it was between 30-90 days you had to wait to try and sign up with the same carrier again.
