I tried a trackpad the other day in a T-Mobile store. Once you get used to it, it is much better. Definitely a good choice by RIM.

Wow this thread got out of hand fast. I guess that's what I get for posting details and pictures...

So a couple of questions that have been generally directed at me.
The band around the edge is similar to the bold but it is not as shiny and is more charcoal in color. It looks brighter in the pics than it actually is because I took the pictures outside.

The camera is 3.2mp and I don't know if it has autofocus but I will say that it did capture some action shots at the fair (my kids on a moving roller coaster) better.

Phone on the dash, yes while driving I put the phone on the dash, especially right now since no one makes a cradle for this phone yet.

How do you become a tester. Well first at&t doesn't out source this function. It is made up of employees who work as RF engineers, network engineers, network managers, etc who do this on a volunteer basis. Trust me it is not nearly as glamorous as you think. The list of checks and tests we have to go through is very long and for every "cool" device you get to test you usually get 10 of the most boring devices on the planet that you have to test as well...

Lastly anyone can PM me with specific questions but please make sure you've read through the thread and even others areas of the forum as well because odds are it has been answered already...

Thanks,

PG

Now that TMO has the 9700, does that mean that AT&T is not far behind?

No carrier is going to have the Onyx exclusively. So that means that all careers might release it at the sametime if not only by a couple weeks diff only.

Where do you see that T-Mobile has the 9700?

I have a question. If the Onyx doesn't seem to have all the bug issues like the Bold did, it should have a shorter test period right? And if so how long do you think it will be? Or have they giving you like a set period of time to run tests? Lastly have you found any bugs with the Onyx yet?

Testing takes a few months. Especially with AT&T. They have to be satisfied with the device software and how it works with their network. BIS and BES. Anything under 2 months isn't sufficient testing time.

Theres a picture of the t-mobile version of the 9700 on the front page of crackberry. Since there already is a t-mobile branding of the phone, could that mean it may ship mid sept. just like the rumors have suggested?

He's referring to the fact that overseas some devices have azerty and qwertz keyboards instead of qwerty
