Hmm, when I need to reload the OS, I'll get this copied over. Thanks for the tip!

Hi rroyy,
Thanks for the post! I did a md5sum on the radio files from .600 and .668 and got dc8f46392e6f5ed1591dc38055845ec1 and a43a048d49be3031ab123eb8e92c992c receptively, which indicates to me that they are different. The date on the radio file in .668 is 9-8-2011. I don't have .666 installed. Do you know if the .666 radio file is more recent than the one in .668?
Thanks,

Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE
Here's my short-version OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...
ELITE1's Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE
- (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from your PC.
- Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer to do so, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, the browser is irrelevant though.)
*If 100% certain you've previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again. - Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
- On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
- Go through any 3rd party apps that have option to save settings to media card, and conduct Backup to media card from menu within each of these apps. (Examples: all Bellshare apps such as BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps such as Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; Show Me The Images; etc).
- Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
- (Optional) Use desktop program like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
- On PC, navigate to
•64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
•32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor. - (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss v2.2 or Shrink-A-OS/BBH+ Tool.
- In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click on Loader to initiate OS upgrade. Follow onscreen instructions.
- After OS install is complete, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is installed.
PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time.Saving the world, one OS at a time...

OK, this is my little review of this OS..
1) i did a fresh shrink of with Shrink-A-Os as usual
2) reboot was very very fast ( fastest i ever seen )
3) i start with 100mb without any app like ( ubbersocial, live messenger, app world etc..)
4) after add all my app including berryweather, berrybuz etc.. i end with 87mb free
5) is too soon to tell the battery life but seems very stable.
6) memory leak SO FAR the most stable i ever tried before.
7) everything move smooth more smoother than the other recent OS
8) browser pretty normal, no big changes ... not FAST but its not slow.
well.... its about too soon to tell more details but so far so good for me... i can proudly say, Best os6 i ever tried before... stable.. smooth... quick...responsive... im happy with it.
If i made grammar mistakes.. SorryChristian GermosenThanked by:joeberrymomma (10-04-2011)

Did you replace the JAVA folder as were told? I'm still on .615 haven't upgraded yet, because I read quite numerous bad reviews on .650 and .666 being memory drainer and such. I might upgrade to .668 based on your review. Oh one more thing, how is call, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connection quality?

Do you even know how md5sums work? md5 is outdated anyway sah1 is the new md5. If you were to make a zip file, then remove something from inside the zip file, the md5 will change. I keep hearing people mentioning md5 when referring to blackberry and i honestly cant see why, unless your downloading a hybrid. md5s are most commonly referred to when talking about an update.zip folder for an android device.
