Will this work on T-Mobile devices even though the 3G bands are different?

I suggest that we attempt to compile a concrete listing of the changes/enhancements/differences between the original OS supplied by AT&T which was 5.0.0.296, and this release of 5.0.0.405?

I know there have been some other operating system's leaked here or elsewhere on the internet, but documenting what exactly happened between .296 and .405 would be helpful for all.

About to load up the update. Going to see if the sms bug started to appear on this release and also to see if they fixed the caller ID problem.

Is there significant changes from 405 to 421? I'm on 421 now, but would like to get the asian languages.

As a side note, this is also available over the air on your AT&T 9700. Simply go to OPTIONS -> ADVANCED OPTIONS -> WIRELESS UPDATE. It will download a small file around 2.9 MB and then ask you if you want to do the update now (which will make your phone unusable for 2-3 hours) or schedule it to download and run automatically at a later time (e.g., 2 AM).

    Works great.

This one doesn't have the message list options (inbox settings) if I'm not mistaken? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Default Major problem with 405 and Mac update?

    Guys -

I plugged my 9700 this morning to my Mac and was asked if I wanted to upgrade. So I did. It gave me some fits.. had to reboot a few times. Got a 507 error. Finally, I was able to get it applied.

I also went to restore my data and applications.

My data restored fine but I am missing all kinds of applications.

The Instant Messenger folder is completely missing. No BBM, nothing.

It also did NOT restore any of my 3rd party apps.

By default it didn't even have Tasks, Memopad installed. I had to go install them separately.

    Is this normal?

Also - I went to wireless update and noticed that 409 is now available and listed as Priority: Low.

No, it doesn't have it. This is what I really want to be able to seperate the emails so when I delete the BES mail it doesn't delete my yahoo mail.

Then I suggest .421, that's what I'll be sticking with for now so I can keep this functionality.

Yes. Often you'll see memory clean up after swapping out OSs.

^^ agreed. Whats the verdict? What the differences from stock .296 which I have no issues with. Why change?

Thanks. I always thought upgrading to new OS would decrease your memory since new OS usually require more memory.

Can someone explain this. What message list options do you mean?
I use BIS only, does this effect me in any way?

Does anyone know if WiFi lock happens faster than on the .296?

I am upgrading to this regardless since it's official but just wanted to know this bit of info since I have to wait till I get home this evening to do the update.

It will... but the OS was designed specifically for AT&T by RIM. When this OS leaked, some but not all Tmo users complained of device reboots. I dont know if I would use this if I was a Tmo user.

I never had a problem with .296 and did not want to use a leak but I did just upgrade to the official .405 and it has been running so smoothly. I love it and seems to be faster now

I'm in the same boat - as much as I'd like things fixed on my 9700 I'll wait until the official T-Mo release. If they released an update OTA, that'd be sweet.
