Default My upgrade to OS 6.0

Well I finally took the leap and upgraded from 5.0.0.860 to 6.0.0.534 and for everyone out there like me who was so hesitant to do it, I have to say it didn't hurt at all

I made the jump thru my DM which has been encouraging me to switch for awhile now and since it stated that my carrier supported this version I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Oddly the actual download only took between 30 to 45 minutes which surprised the heck out of me. I am now having a great time learning new ways to navigate around my 9700, yes there is less memory but I don't save a lot of junk on my phone except addresses and my calendar anyway.

Just to let others like me know, it was a breeze.

Thank you for posting your experience!
OS6 isn't as scary as everyone says it is.

Yep, much better overall IMO than os5.

My first time took me a couple hours as I couldn't for the life of me to get it to work. Found out it was the T-Mobile .COD files holding it back. After getting rid of those, was easy peezy!

Also that was iirc the 1st two OS6's that did that. Now you don't have to worry about it.

Last upgrade I did, took 28 minutes to the minute.

    A couple of suggestions.

Keep an eye on the memory leak.

You also might want to check into shrinking the OS. Your 9700 will run a lot better if you eliminate the almost 100mb you don't need.

I'd suggest you to download tiny meter and keep an eye on the memory leaks (as suggested). Tiny also monitors the average charge of your battery.

    Enjoy your OS 6.

Why not upgrade to the latest leak .600? IMO, it's the best OS6 to date, better than .534.

I'll just play with this version first and get comfortable and then try out the next version as you suggested

The household 9700 was moved to the latest .600 last weekend. The owner is pleased so far. Much better than the previous OS and far above the 5.0 series. OS change is so simple that if a new system is not good downgrading to an old one is easy. The beauty of BB is custom modifications like that.
