My phone shuts off before hitting the red

I have a bold 9700 from at&t running os v5.0.0.602. I have had this phone for 13 months. I have just replaced my battery with an official unused new battery. It shuts off when showing approximately 20%-30% remaining battery.

I've searched the internet which has suggested many different issue fixes. Battery "recalibration" ie my battery meter is just reading the battery wrong. I have found this may be one fix. I have also seen that a third party application can cause this issue. Currently I only have the weather channel app. I have also seen that updating to a new os could possibly fix the issue.

If anyone has a possible fix for me I would greatly appreciate it.

first uncheck Enable Compression by storage

i had this problem a few months ago and i also tried a bunch of things till it fixed but i cant remember the exact fix

Updating to a later version of OS 5 might help if disabling compression does nothing.
