My Blackberry Bold 9700 Ferrari Edition
Hey guys, I just got a Blackberry Bold 9700 Ferrari Edition and since I didn't find any pics nor info on the device online I decided to post the pics I took of it here.
I was not really excited after being offered the device as I already have a good working Torch 9800 plus I'm considering getting an OS 7 BB (an OS 5 one would be more of a downgrade) but the very competitive price I got from a friend is the main reason I bought it and also the uniqueness of the device was overwhelming as you'll see in the pics below!!
it looks like a typical Bold 9700 except for the exterior design and colors. the OS 5 running the device is similar to any OS 5 but the custom theme is dope!!
here are the photos:

so what do you guys think? should I keep it and use it? or sell it?

I'm not sure how much it's gonna be worth !! I heard its price is more than 2000 USD for the new one . this one is almost new, never been used. No SIM card has been inserted. I just turned it on to check out the software.

WOW !!!
I aint never did see one of those before. I imagined it was just the Porsche designs special edition that was exclusive.
I would definately keep it. Have you got pics of the theme please OP ? -

What the heck?! NO, I don't have one of these. That's pretty hot. Never even heard of this before.

As the OP said. I am unable to find anything on these Ferrari Blackberrys on google either

Edit: it seems the OP has the rarest most exclusive Blackberry on this site.
Everyone start bidding if the OP would like to sell it.Last edited by Ben1232; 04-14-2012 at 07:27 PM.

certainly sexy but why dress up an old device? It would have been cooler to see a 9790 dressed this way, then I'd be all over it...

I don't get it, why is it running OS5?
1. Is it from China?
2. Did RIM and Ferrari try to collaborate on this version and they couldn't come to an agreement? So RIM went to Porsche Design? And now this prototype has leaked from a canned RIM employee? - 04-14-2012, 08:32 PM #12
If its real, it seems to be a little too late to try to sell it (good luck though) at a fair price now. If it were another 9900 version, I'd understand a little over $2k, but only a rich Ferrari nut would buy it at that price, imo. Would you pay that much for a phone? Especially if you were rockin a Honda?
Even if it's one of a kind, $13k is a lot. If you sold it for $1-1.5k, I wouldn't complain. The 9700 is an older phone, and the prime time for your Ferrari sale passed.
Finally, is it real? I don't think so.
p.s. You spelt 'limited' wrong. - 04-14-2012, 09:06 PM #14
I think you missed the point. Bla1ze found those images through a Google search. He's not selling the device. And uh... those aren't USD in the auction anyhow.
To the others wondering why they'd do this to an old device, or why it's on OS 5... no one ever said the phone is NEW. This likely came out in 2010 as some sort of promo or gift item.@_Miche11e_

I definitely think its real, I also think it was prolly ( I know I spelled that wrong, who cares) a very limted product and maybe only sold through Ferrari dealerships when the 9700 was a new device.. Cool to hold on to & show off.. I wouldn't use it, I would still get a OS7 BlackBerry. IMO anyone still on OS5 or even 6 is really missing out

I believe that is a Colorware special edition. I don't think it's available anymore

Sooooo ugly and stupid. I would not use this phone even if someone give it to me for free. I will sell it or destroy it for the good of humanity.

I do remember this phone in a magazine like men's journal. It was a small blip like they do in the back of the magazine

Well its pretty cut n dry for me. Its just bugly and it also does not look real there is nothing there you can't do with a the cnn.cn mod kit 20$ if it is real I would have lost a lot of respect for fererri and not only that the choice of BB does not seem like a good one since its so old and the operating system would not be doing them any favours

It's pretty neat to some point but I just like my plain old 9700 in black. Sure I look like the "poor guy" from the gist of some people here with new Bold 9900's. I'm in no rush to upgrade as my "old" 9700 is still rocking' and looks just as spotless as the day I bought it.
